i take the point about falling down the rankings but this would be a short term pain for potential long term gain. the tried and tested pros aren't doing it for us anyway so we will likely fall down the rankings in any event.
you are right we need to have a 10-15 yr plan but we can't neglect our current prospects either.
Spot on Dave, Serbia and Macedonia did the same thing to a lesser extent, but whenever we're put under pressure we panic and hoof it.
As long as no hope no skill players like Caldwell are the first name on the teamsheet we're goosed.
2-0 was a tremendous result considering the pattern of last nights game, if it had been double figures it wouldn't have been unfair.
All the games so far (Wales apart) have done is show how far behind in terms of technique our players actually are.
The basic problem is retaining possession, apart from Darren Fletcher, no-one in the midfield can pick a decent pass or hold on to the ball. Morrison was misplacing simple balls out wide and spent half the night on his backside. Maloney seems to think silly 12 year old level step overs will beat Man City players and Commons, well, I've seen snails run faster.
You're right though our whole philosophy has to change. From top to bottom Scottish football has to shift to a European mentality where possession football and the skill required to play it is our focus. Stopping sticking 12 year olds on full size pitches and shout 'get intae them' from the side lines would be a start.

also i wasn't making the point that they should be the first names on the team sheet more that they should be given 20-30 min appearances. the fact they will be in the dressing room with some top pros like D. Fletcher will also have a great impact on them
