And we have a JR who knows where the goal is!
According to Sky they are about to unveil their new manager in the next few days. I think you pronounce it
D I C K or Dycke.
One way or the other he's sure to be a D I C K.

Even allowing for our differences with the people from Claret-land we all should spare a thought for John Connelly, sad he died so relatively young. He was a great player in anyone's team and was unfairly treated by Alf Ramsey, just like my hero Duggy. Connelly had a tremendous body swerve and balance that could wrong foot defenders at full speed and a whippy shot from either foot at full tilt too. He was the sort of player that so many of us want to see forwards trying to be nowadays but few can; running straight at defenders, going outside for an accurate cross or cutting in and crashing a shot from 20 yards. I remember holding my breath at Ewood whenever he got the ball, especially against some of the blokes that we had at full back in those days! Anyone else see him play? Starr? Walkden?
Rest In Peace,
Duggy
Before my time Duggy but I have heard mention of the player in the past.
He sounds like the sort of winger we are crying out for at the Rovers!
Bit early for me Duggy- first game I can recall was Newcastle V Liverpool in 1974 FA Cup final. Anything before that is imagination.
How good were Cup Final Days starting at 9:30 on Grandstand (or Friday night 'Its a Cup Final Knockout' if that way inclined). I might be imagining this actually?
Aye Duggy I remmember him well we got him in the season after we went down 1966 I think? From Manchester United he always played well for us and gave it 100% scored quite a few goals also .I hate reading about all our old players passing on!R.I.P
Star and Walkden: wikipedia (sp?) has a very nice outline of his life, prolific goal scorer and genuine bloke who didn't make a bean out of his fame. Can't imagine any of this lot ending up running a chippy can you!
Newcastle v Liverpool, was that the Heighway final?
I had forgotten about Cup Final Knockout, Eddie Waring famous voice and Stuart Hall's guffaws! I think you are right, Grandstand did start around 9-30am meaning a serious day on the settee, from Cocoa Pops straight into Thwaites. I do remember town (Darren) being busy early and then deserted by noon on Final day. There was little footy on the tele then so we loved every bit, even United, nah I take that back.
Thanks for the memories!
Duggy I think me and you go a long way back!
Ey up Star, distant memories make everything seem better than it probably was and I have groaned and cursed on Ewood more times than I probably like to admit but it keeps us old 'uns supporting the club and hoping for better days. Although we might think some of the current squad a bunch of wasters, it wouldn't be the first time would it (remember L Bimpson or R Caird or Bobby Craig, the 5ft 5" striker!).
Up the transitioning Rovers!
Duggy
