I'm always pessimistic going into big games, but not when it's Arsenal at Old Trafford.

I don't think they'll score enough goals to trouble us. Cazorla is a fantastic player, but other than him I don't think they have anyone to really trouble us if we don't lose concentration.

If they play to Giroud's strengths (the air) they will cause us problems, but we know they won't do this.

It will be like most games, we'll just force them wide and they can't cross, then we'll go up their end an score 3.

They did exploit you, Bale destroyed rio for pace, Vidic is a major loss and its showing. Your getting away with it largly due to rvp, hw ironic is that. I thought we were a one man team last season!.

one moment of a game. Its like saying chelsea exploited barca becausey got the result. tottenham required so much luck that lord alan sugar thought how lucky they were. He probably thought is this how low tottenham the great entertainers have gone and done a chelsea as in how chelsea won the champions league was how spurs won at OT.

Batmanu, I'm sure he will.

If not I'm sure one of Cleverly, Young, Welbeck, Rooney or Hernandez will, because we know how much Arsenal fans love these players.

Great bit of business by united but it hardly takes a genious to sign the best goal scorer of last year and puthim in a better team. We all hoped he wouldnt fit in your system but your system has already changed to meet his needs

what happened to torres.

The thing is, he's not even played that great. There is still a lot more to come from RVP. Hopefully we can do with RVP what we failed to do with Berba. The signs look promising though.

difference between RVP and Berba for me is, RVP looks like he genuinely is working hard to forge a partnership with Rooney

Berba didnt seem like he wanted to change his game much at all

No, the difference is, that RvP is better, faster, more powerful, better finisher. Unless he picks up an injury, we've been well and truly skanked.

At least he got his wish, the

I agree with that. He also looks to get into the box and score goals. He's very disciplined in comparison to Berba.

Shame really, I've always love Berba as a player. One of the most technically gifted players in the Prem. he just wasn't a good fit for United.

I'm glad he's enjoying his football at Fulham now, and seems to have picked up some form, because he really is a joy to watch.

Santi, although there is some truth in what you say, it was Berba's work ethic that was the real problem.

I don't think we used him correctly, but he need tried to adapt his game to suit the team.

That's why Hernandez and Welbeck were getting games over him despite beyond miles behind him in terms of talent.

I was never a Berba fan, in fact, I was probably one of his biggest haters but the way Fergie treated him in the last year or so was disgraceful

I do rate Berba. His movements are just totally in the penalty area for Fulham, I expect he couldn't handle the defensive side at a top club like united. RvP naturally drops deep, that's his game, Berba wouldn't be caught dead doing that.

Work ethic wasnt the problem, it wasnt a problem with Cantonna, Ronaldo etc.

The problem was he never scored in the big games. What was it, a handful of goals in 3 years of CL football for us.

He was top scorer but he scored almost all his goals at home vs weak teams. Hell 5 of his 19 were at home to Balckburn

I've always liked him as a player but he really wasn't the right fit for United.

I said on another thread that we should have signed Silva instead. Tevez would have got more games and probably would have stayed as well.

It's a bit gutting to think that we could have signed Siva, Tevez and Mata instead of Berba, Valencia and Young.

Santi, Berba always dropped deep, that was a huge criticism of him because he was meant to be leading the line. He just couldn't keep up with the pace of the side so we often found him dropping deep and then failing to get in the box. That's why Tevez was a much better fit.

NOt really. SIlva/Mata wouldve required us to completely change our formation and style of play. Who's to say they wouldve fit into our wing play style of play?

Tevez couldve stayed and still spat the dummy like he has done at CIty. As a player he fit our style but as a human being, he is as lovable as Suarez

Silva and Mata both started their careers at Valencia on the wing. I'm sure there would not have been a problem fitting them in.

Also, after we won the double we were playing many games with a interchangeable front 3, so sign Silva instead of Berba and it fits.

Tevez might not have acted the way he did had he been in the side instead of Berba.

Mata could have come in and played as an attacking mid had they all been signed.

All hindsight I know. But would have been a lot Steiner than what we have now, in my opinion.

We could have signed Silva and Aguero Silva originally wanted to join us and we never even bothered going in for him and we just let City get aguero.

Could have been lining up like this

Ramires-Oscar
Silva-Mata-Hazard
Aguero

posted on 30/10/12

Silva just wanted to move to a big club and Valencia needed the cash. Any team that offered £25mil couldve got him

I know Fergie checked hiim out a lot but he tried to get Villa instead for many years

As for Aguero, hes already flirting with Real Madrid, he'll be off soon so not too fussed about him

Plus, I think hes overrated personally

Some team.

We could have lined up as:

Carrick Anderson
Nani/Silva Rooney Mata
Tevez

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

--------Carrick--Hargreaves--Scholes--------
--Ronaldo---------Tevez-------------ROoney---

Cant believe we had that team only a few years back
Now only Rooney and Carrick remain (Scholes isnt the same player anymore tbh). The worse part is, we never even replaced Hargreaves, Ronaldo and Tevez for years

Aguero is fantastic in my opinion. Him, Messi and Di Maria are gonna be a force at the world cup.

Such a shame teams like Valencia and Atleico have to sell all their best players. They'd have much more of a chance of getting near Barca and Madrid if they could keep their top players. They produce and find some great talent.

The Prem is so lucky we can steal all these foreign players.
