How? The fact that we now only have 2 strikers with PL experience, one of which wants to leave? We had enough trouble last year not getting goals, this year is looking like it could be a lot worse, as it's looking very unlikely we'll have a replacement anytime soon.

Well, despite saying we have bids in Andy Cryer has been told by a Venky's source that we will not be signing anyone imminently, and will not be getting anyone until the club return from the Asia Trophy (which finishes July 31st). Interest in Raul has been denied.

It seems as though we are not even trying at the moment, hopefully it all gets sorted soon.

PS. Benjani may be "rubbish" but he's as useful as the rest of our strikeforce!

Sure if we were moving forward.... A club selling its best young player, not renewing its next best youngster's (or is that Olsson) contract, feeling the need to justify, feeling the need to reassure its fans that it is doing the right thing when its previous activity was confused. these are all things that can be criticised. I don't see any positives to have come out on the club's activities recently - nothing inspiring at all.

They're not going to be fussed by fan opinion on here. Or do you never have an opinion on anything until you have the full facts and things are completed? No opinion on how players will be, who will be the form teams etc. We have to form opinions based on what we see. And so far it ain't smelling of roses...

What I don't understand is why everyone is talking about "relegation form" when we haven't even started the season yet. Last season was a strange season in that (apart from West ham) so many clubs were at the wrong end of the table. There are 3 teams playing next season who will all be relegation candidates. Then there will be Wigan, Wolves, Fulham etc etc. Only teams unlikely to go down are the big City clubs with very very rich owners. We don't have much hope of finishing in the top 6 so it leaves the cup competitions to try for.
Anyway going down is not that big a deal, look what happened to Luton, Leeds, Bradford.........were doomed.

I cant believe how ignorant some people are! Can people not see their is something not right here, kean has a striker lined up on a free waiting to sign despite reported intrest from Liverpool/Fulham yet Venky's won't finalise the deal. Benjani is no longer signing even though i cant see many teams fighting for his signature! (Also free) Either Venky's are tramps with not a pot to p!ss in and conned the fit and proper persons panel (Probably not hard) or their is something in the truth about Venky's wanting Kean out and not sanctioning the players he wants!

I don't see how anyone can argue that on the face of it our transfer activity this summer has looked worrying to say the least. Selling our best player for about £10m less than he's worth, looking far more likely to pick up bargain basement players and resign ones who spent last season warming the bench, looking less likely by the day to spend the £10m promised by Venkys plus the £16m made on Jones.

I accept the point that people are maybe jumping the gun with extremely harsh criticism considering the transfer window isn't yet closed and we could suddenly start signing players of quality. But can't blame the fans for getting worried about what we've seen (nothing) and heard (a multitude of bizarre rumours) so far.

The chicken jokes on here are usually just that, nothing to fly off the handle or cry fowl about. If they'd been SA farmers, Oz, whomever I think the jokes are jokes. It's their actions that are worrying. Even when they talked of an academy in Prune I think their was little rumbling on here and 606!

No I meant Junior - offered but not signed, is that because of a normal pause to consider, waiting to see the ambitions of the club or because the amount offered is too poultry (that one allowed?). Its this kind of thing that is worrying - b&wh - as ever a good summary. The anger early is because it didn't happen last window despite extravagant promises so why should we believe any of it now?
