He can hardly be any worse than Notso
In June 2008, it was reported that Kean was in talks with Chelsea to become assistant manager to Luiz Felipe Scolari.[4] Kean's fluency in Portuguese from his playing days was believed to be a key reason for Chelsea's interest.[4]

Just me then now? We'll see what happens anyway. He couldn't have a tougher first test than Palace away.
OH Yes i agree,,but a game made much easier with the return of David Goodwillie back to Ewood,,he could have been picked to play against us..
Maybe Berg will get the best out of Goodwillie
Hasn't Goodwillie left Palace?
He's back Rob and he's hungry for goals!
But is he registered in our squad if he was supposed to be on loan until January?
Good shout Wild, often after reflection we think slightly differently.
Berg is a classy guy, classy player and hopefully classy manager. One of the very best defenders we have ever had at the club.
B&WH...I share your reservations, would have chosen someone different personally, but am more than happy to give Berg maximum support.
Really looking forward to singing our Blue and White Army chant again!
COYB ....the season starts now!
You're right. He can't play for us until New Year
Souness refusing to give Berg a contract after he'd changed his mind about leaving was a stroke of genius.
Classic Souness self destruction.
Self destruction or sticking to your principles? Souness obviously didn't stand for being messed about and there's 2 sides to that hardlined approach. It can bring out the best in some, Friedel, Tugay, Duff, Thompson, Jansen, Flitcroft, Todd and Cole all flourished under Souness. Yorke, Dunn, Berg, maybe 1/2 others I've forgotten fell out with him. But the end result was more than good enough for me overall.
Apparently Souness’s team talks used to consist of….’right lads, go out there and keep it tight at the back, be strong in midfield and get your shots in when you can’
Inspiring stuff
"Even as he stood on the touchline with the flashbulbs popping, there were signs Berg understands the club and the fans. As a multitude of photographers called for the ubiquitous shot of manager holding aloft a shirt with his name emblazoned on the back, Berg spun the famous blue and white shirt around. He pointed to the badge and said simply: "This is the most important thing, not a name on the back.""

Yeah it inspired us to win promotion and also the Worthington Cup, whilst playing very attractive football with a large number of younger players.
Not sure why Souness is being knocked to be honest.
No i am a bit confused about the stick that ouness is getting here,OK at the end of his teuure he did appear to have lost the dressing room, but prior to that he did some great things for the Rovers,,his worst signing for me was B Ferguson and i dont think that his inclusion in the dressing room helped Souness at all,Ferguson is bad news were ever he is,but Berg has already brought sme class back to this club his mere presence on TV is very acceptable,,lets hope that by say mid Jan he has got a style and a pattern of play that we all enjoy,,but above all else he wins some games...COYBs
Good thread, good sense, pride returns, great to read that. As OOJW says "The season start now"...
But talking of team talks my favourite when I were a player was, "Go out and have fun lads, a relaxed player is a better player; oh and by the way, watch out for that dog muck on the left wing - let them slide in THAT"!
Happier Duggy,
The more I think about this appointment, the more I'm warming to it. I just hope that Berg can be a success with us and take us back to where we were before our self-destruction 2 years ago.
souness did a great job for a few seasons, but towards the end things were falling apart, when he left we were struggling.
the berg decision was cutting his nose off to spite his face.
not knocking what he'd achieved in prior seasons though.
