what sort of conversation are they having with the club upon signing.... so many players playing out of their favoured position at our club, for such a long time.
square pegs / round holes......again.

Irony of ironies: Theo & Poldi want to play centre, played on wing. Gerv & Ox seem happy on wig; often get moved to middle.
LNB- I think Wenger is more interested in the price of the player rather than what he offers, how much money have we wasted on players that just don't fit into our system? Giroud was our big money buy this summer and it looks painfully obvious that he doesn't fit into the current system, he'll clearly be more effective with having someone playing alongside him but sadly Wenger's never going to revert back to 4-4-2.
^^^^ yeah but Giroud saved us from paying dizzy prices lol
"..why can't he just buy players who are specialists in their positions."
---------------
Okay first off I really like Podolski.
So now I've got that out of the way... has anyone else wondered whether Arsene signed him more because he thought he was a bargain, rather than a player who would fit into our system?

Thing is, doesn't Podolski play left most of the time for Germany too?
I thought he played as a second striker at Koln though. Sure he would've seen the system Arsenal play and wondered where he'd fit into it, just as Arsene must've thought through what his role in the side would be?
I really do wonder whether it was just a case of needing to replace van Persie with a 'name' signing, and Podolski's price was right.
I think he can play wide left in a front 3 (he does it for Germany) I think are style of play is the problem.
For Germany, they play quick, free flowing counter attacking football which allows Pod to get on the end of things and arrive a bit later into the box.
With us we're slow and ponderous and generally crap going forward and add to that the defensive stuffed I can see why he's not happy at the moment
Playing with Santos if probably not helping matters.
He seemed to be doing well with Gibbs, (boy do we need that guy back).
At the beginning of the season, Podolski and Cazorla seemed to be building a great understanding. Just lately though, that seems to have floundered too.
Perhaps with Cazorla being (kept?) quiet and Gibbs out injured, Poldi has lost his two best partnerships? If so, it's no wonder he's also looked out of sorts lately.

wenger always wants the bargains, surprisingly no other team in Germany went for him
I think "Wenger liked the price" is probably the answer, TBOK.
He knew he was going to lose van Persie, and that signing Giroud as his replacement wouldn't be a high enough profile name.
Podolski was perfect from that point of view, and with Koln almost certainly relegated by the time the deal was wrapped up, an 'Arsene price' too.
Our quest for value for money is actually ruining us

Podolski is a class finisher. 18 goals for a relgated side is nothing odinary. If we play 442 the amount of goals we'd score...
I'm not sure what stimulates Wenger more these days.
Building a squad of players capable of challenging for titles, or complying with FFPR?

He wants to win the league without spending big, Just to show it can be done.

im surprised we dont bid for Burak Yilmaz from Galatasaray available for around 7-10m pacey striker anelka like speed. Scoring quite a few goals atm Liverpool are interested aswell.
"If we don't win a trophy in the next two years my project would have failed" he said this in 2008.
It has been 4 years since then yet he is still stubbornly sticking with his failed philosophies, Le Prof has definitely gone mad.
he doesn't posses the capabilities to play as a central striker.
He floped at bayern munich so left for a shittier club like schalke so he would look better

Someone needs to bring this up at one of his pressers
