Tremlett's form worries me. I pointed out a few days ago that since the last test at the rose bowl he's only played one 4-day game, taking one wicket only.
I fear we will miss Bresnan who has a good record against left handed batsmen.
As to today, unless England's bowlers bowl better than the 6 overs last evening, India will match our total.

Hard to know how this is going to go today. We know that India are a quality team and bat well. The ball is in their court though, and if they bungle it they will be in trouble. England scored a massive amount of runs yesterday, and the question is this, was it down to poor bowling or great batting? If it was down to poor bowling then England have a great chance to win. If it was down to good batting then it will be difficult because we all know that India can bat, and bat well.
This test match is set up for a perfect days play
P.S. A little biased maybe, but I am gutted that Englands lucky charm, Tim Bresnan, is not playing. Good things have happened when he has been on the pitch for us. That said, Broad is good so maybe this decision is a blessing. We will soon find out.

With two lefties in, maybe Swann will be on early if pace is not successful.

India 54-0 and looking very composed out there in the middle. Our bowlers are going to have to bowl superbly to get this lot out twice.

19 wickets to go Great delivery from Broad, who can easily get five or six wickets if he is in the mood, as we have seen before.

The ageing and overrated Indian batters will struggle against a revitalised Broad.
91mph already, stunning wicket (control of line, length and swing), swann to demonstrate what a proper off-spinner ought to be.

I can just see the boundaries drying up for the flat track bullies that are Dravid-Tendulkar-Laxative, who with their penshionable stature are bound to run themselves out against the young and agile England fielders.

In summary: India 262-5 close of play

You and I share the fact that England are the best cricket team on earth in this format ( even though we are T20 world champions, but who cares lol ) and are well capable of winning any series at the moment. Great start by our bowlers, and India are definitely rocking on the ropes, and Broad is "unloading".
Great start by our boys. Pressure building and as you and I know Majik, we usually go for the jugular at this point, these days.

I always felt like we were just teasing that rookie, and that his second test match 50 was never actually going to happen, not against us anyway

i'm english, but LOVE watching this guy bat, there is summat about a sportsman(any sport)when they make the game look so effortless.

Yes Sachin is a legend, but I always like to see him dragging his sorry behind back to the pavilion when he is playing us. Lets get him out quickly and then rattle through the rest of this test match. England are playing hardball today.

True, Maksi, i live in london and can see the clouds starting to roll in a touch (not to bring the rain, touch wood) but Ando's going to be untouchable in the next half-hour.
Swanny's not even turned his arm over. Saying that, Lord's is a bit of a graveyard for those that twirl...well, apart from swanny and his 5fer!

So what you are saying is that India are in trouble? Good times, and great attitude by all the players today. This is a good contest now, but India are close to getting into trouble. I still want Tremlett to knock an Indian helmet off with a "lifter". Always enjoy that sort of cricket at this level

Anderson is way off his game today and Tremlett is only bowling moderately well. Broad is bowling as he did in the Oval ashes. Pity it's taken him two years to remember how to bowl.

Hopeforthebest

Have you been watching a different game?
I thought Anderson was bowling very well, it was just swinging too much. Tremlett hasn't been hitting his straps apart from the odd ball and Broad has been doing as you said what he should have been doing 2 years ago.

posted on 23/7/11

Lazy, clearly I have been watching a different game. Anderson was bowling too wide and often a poor length, Tremlett has been bowling too short most of the time and no balling more than I've ever seen from him.

posted on 23/7/11

I thought Anderson's lines were very good, with the odd ball being either too full or wide, but generally he's been aiming at top of off.

Lazy, I recommend a visit to specsavers.

Excellent batting by the little maestro and dravid England know that getting these 2 out , and 1 or 2 more today would put us in a strong position but it is going to be a tough day for our bowlers. I still feel Broad is the key to victory this time.

Tremlett's last over was a good one. Pitch it up and let the ball talk is the key on this wicket.
