Tu Meke Santi - good question. As I said in the OP, we aren't exactly blessed with world class right backs. It annoys me no end that Glen Johnson is our first choice.
Wilshere - maybe in a few years time he will have improved enough to play for England, but I won't consider myself to be wrong about this moment in time.
Anyway, enough of the Jenkinson debate, I would much rather discuss what people think we can gain by playing Sweden again.
It used to be that you looked at the starting XI for England and all bar one at most they were proven top players and proven CL class. GNeville, Rio, BigSol, Terry, AshCole, Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Owen, Beckham.
These days Milner's practically a nailed on starter.
Times have changed.
That depresses me more than anything, the fact that Milner is guaranteed to be in the squad, and more often than not the 11, despite often not even being in the Manchester City matchday squad. He is the epitome of bland, uninspiring but workmanlike.
Sweden are a tough side with a real attacking threat.
It may not be Germany but it's a much better test than most sides.
But we have played them enough times in the past 12 months! We should be playing Argentina or Portugal, teams that are no doubt better than us at the moment and who will provide a real, NEW, test.
Jenkinson has 3 clean sheets to Walkers 1 in the PL in less games and whilst being 2 years younger.
Jenko > Walker
How is that point valid? Jenkinson isn't a goalkeeper, so no, he doesn't have 3 clean sheets. Anyway, I'm not discussing the scared owl any longer.
Portugal is a good shout.
devils advocate, we may want sides who play like Ukraine and Poland. Maybe that's Sweden. Not sure but just a thought.
I was thinking that, but there has to be someone other than Sweden. We seem to play them all the time. Even someone like Chile, who have a fairly good, technical team now.
we do need to prepare for fixtures in our qualification group but we also need to prepare for the big guns.
It would be good if we could play Brazil and the Germany. Two teams who play a to a totally different system yet are very good
I think the main reason we're playing sweden again is because they wanted us to be the first fixture in their new national stadium
So whether or not the team loses is valid, but whether or not he allows goals to go into his net isn't?
Please explain how that isn't crazy
Uruguay would be a great test, but their forward line could rape us tbh.
I agree. Regards my comments about playing Chile and Argentina, I think it would be a worthwhile exercise (although maybe at the end of the season) to go to South America and play. It would be good preparation for the next World Cup, if we qualify.
And from a purely selfish point of view, England should come and play Australia, Down Under.

Uruguay would be a great test, but yes, I think we would get hammered.
No, we just differ in opinion. My opinion is that Jenkinson isn't personally responsible for the clean sheets. But he contributes to the poor start.
So he also contributes to the clean sheets...
Whereas Kyle Walker has not contributed to as many clean sheets, as he does not have as many

Meh, thought he was a pool fan.
I've played against Jenkinson when he was out on loan. He scored a free kick!

====================
Uruguay are in poor form and look like going downhill, they have no real cohesion in attack AND have become uncharacteristically porous in defence.
The new 'flavour of the last few months' is Colombia, who beat the very same Uruguay 4-0, are on a good run in the WC2014 qualification and have a crop of v good players coming through.

OP, i don't know if this is a WUM-fest but Carl Jenkinson has had a marvellous start to the campaign (for once the Arsenal fans got it right: he is a talent).
However, the OP makes a point about us scraping the barrel. Raheem Sterling? Wilfred Zaha? The Ox?
I am not saying they are bad players but are they 'outstanding talents' or are we just putting them because the talent pool is so shallow.
I mean Spain can afford to leave Mata out of their team!
