What a massive bunch of clowns. Someone really needs to tell them to do one, but of course whoever does will be labelled racist.

Obviously this is a very sensitive issue MA ERSE

Bunch of pisz takers!

Was thinking exactly the same earlier, they seem to more interested in their own agenda more than actually getting to any sort of truth of fact.

You summed my thoughts up really.

They try to achieve equality, yet by having the name Society of Black Lawyers they are doing the exact opposite.

Great article - needed to be said and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.

Why can they not just call it "The Society for Lawyers who want to change the world"?

I'm surprised that the police agreed to investigate what amounted to a rumour.. Doesn't there need to be at least some evidence of illegal activity before they can investigate? Did this association present any, other than what they'd read somewhere?

666... I think it came down to someone who can hardly speak English (Ramires) told someone who speaks a different language from him (Mikel) that he THOUGHT he heard the ref say something racist. I actually can't believe what these bunch of people are trying to stand for? You would have thought that being lawyers, then they would have at least some intelligence! Its obvious that they are pulling nothing but a publicity stunt and dragging our beautiful game in it!

Surely by naming themselves that way these lawyers are equally racist? I'm with Boxer and all of the above.

i think it boils down to a case of

"look at me, look at me"

It always strikes me as odd that there are so many of these exclusive organisations where race is the key qualifier and yet they claim to be tools of integration.

I'm all for equal rights, but equal should be for everybody not only minorities.

Had anyone heard about this group more than a couple of months ago? There is still so much racism inherent in certain areas of society, but they have decided to turn their attention to football (the KIO campaign, Terry and now 'Clattengate' because despite almost total integration on the field of play itself, its popularity guarantees publicity.

They obviously have their own political agenda - it seems to me that they are a group who are actually thoroughly unprincipled, quick to criticise others, spreading negativity for the sake of it, abusive and quite hypocritical.

In short, blackguards.

That is the usual drivel trotted out. Why would White people want lawyers to represent them? Racism in the workplace, police, public sector, etc is well documented.
I can see a need for this organisation, but the question is whether they should have got involved with this. IMO no they probably shouldn't.

I disagree completely strett. there are many people, myself included, who are fully behind the fight against racism, so why must the lawyers who stamp it out have to be black?

Stirring for the sake of it and doing nobody any favours in the process. They assume, and publicly declare, guilt based on accusation. They almost imply that anyone not happy to accept accusation as proof is also guilty of racism.

It's difficult. There are some similarities with rape accusations - on the one hand we want to have zero tolerance, on the other we can't convist people on one person's word against another, or individuals with an axe to grind will use it to their advantage. Sadly, there ARE people who will accuse purely to cause trouble, and these people harm the chances of the genuine victims. Lawyers have an absolute duty to set the tone by concerning themselves with facts and proof, not tittle-tattle.

It is easier and prior knowledge is there. There are institutions which represent all minorities in society; and these are over subscribed by the people whom they wish to represent.

That is not exclusive to this crowd Vidal; this is what lawyers do.

ramadan

they are doing a great job of causing resentment and creating a divide.

these are the same bunch who are kicking off about spurs fans calling THEMSELVES the yeed army (ie taking back a word and devaluing the offensiveness of it). good on the yeed army for their pro-active stance, its a very clever and empowering mechanism. "offence-seekers" often fail to see that their actions are also destructive like the racists they rail against cos neither stand for freedom and tolerance of personal opinion.
