There will be better centre halfs in Spain than Puyol playing for a lower league side. The bloke had been injury hit for 3 years, is slower than ever and is 35 next year. If he is still the best the league it says little about the defenders over there. I imagine this is ignorance on our part and there is probably some centre half at Getafe who is a lot better than credited for.

It's a myth that Alves cannot defend. How many times do you see good attackers give him a hard time? More often than not he gets the better of Ronaldo, Cashley is the only other full back I've seen contain him as good as Alves.
