Sorry for the typos above...I am multi-tasking at work..though I'm sure you all got my drift !
I was one of the founder members of the London Owls ,my first match was at Stamford Bridge when we lost 1-0 in 1968 and first went to Hillsborough in 1970 and have seen countless changes and endured highs and lows over the past 40 years plus !
"Wednesday were actually the highest Yorkshire team placed 15th in the Sunday Times table based on points accumulated by EVERY club in the highest division of the Football League since its creation way back in the 1870s !"
Doesn't this just mean we've been around longer than most of the other clubs? We've got a 52 year head start on Leeds, for example.
Hold on Izzy....not all the clubs around at the start were in the top 20 of that list !
Also,we have still won more League Titles and FA Cups than Leeds and Hillsborough has always been a superior stadium to Elland Road.

...............
Deluded on the stadium bit as many people in football will tell you but give us another 52 yrs and we will see.not sure you know much about euro comps never mind winning any so what what does your boast matter really!!!!!we have a world wide fan base(you do not)our turnover is always bigger than yours,we sell more shirts, the money side of turnover is what matters, not whether you won a title in 1899(I am not far off that yr I bet)
Of course Sheffield Wednesday has a Worldwide fan base !
What are you on about ?
How many teams are there in the city of Leeds anyway ?
You are Yorkshire's second best team at best on ALL past results....and have never had an attendance anywhere near our home record of over 72,000 !
Far more research required !
I think 'superwhites' must be a bit 'tired and emotional' after today's events. One stand and three chicken sheds does not make a 'stadium'.
Arkle,do you honestly believe Swillsborough is still a good stadium?
Interesting question.
Stadiums hold a lot of history, so the concept of 'good' is subjective. Hillsborough is a great stadium, steeped in history not only that of Wednesday but of many great teams that have played here. It has memories for all Wednesdayites far and wide. Not forgetting the many great FA Cup semi-finals played here at Hillsborough. I've no doubt other teams hold their own grounds in great esteem.
Hillsborough - she needs a lick of paint and some rust repair, I'll give you that. But the Old Lady still has the ability to put on a show.
Now, as for poultry husbandry - Elland Road was once the subject of a Bernard Matthews takeover -ideal conditions for breeding apparently.

Good job your carthorse knows which way to go I suppose.
As for Hillsborough, I know fans are biased, but I can't really see why it's NOT a good stadium. Rather there than some new soul-less 'stadium-u-like' on the M1.
The other three sides of the stadium must be far superior to the Leppings Lane end then.
I retired the carthorse a year or two ago,the last I saw of him he was sticking his elbow into Ian Humes skull.I am now the proud owner of a shiny French limousine.
I'll have to bow to your superior knowledge on that one as I've never been in the Leppings Lane end. I believe Eckaslike Senior arrived late at the famous (in Sheffield) 1976 Southend relegation match and could only get in there, but I was tucked up in bed, so can't comment.
Mind you, it can't be that bad - have you ever been to Fratton Park?
It's in desperate need of a refurb, but the soul and backbone of Hillsborough is in rude health.
I just wish they'd give it a good scrub and sort the sign on the leppings lane end. It's a right eyesore.
Bell.end Road on the other hand, is a national joke.
Yes,some years back mind - grim. I recall being showered with bricks in the away end

And that home stand where the people at the front are below sea level.....what's that all about?
Hmm - we still have them (concrete gutters) in the West Stand at Oakwell, better than the stainless fabricated tray type.
Well I go in the Grandstand and the facilities are excellent, as good as most modern stadia I would say. The kop is still a bit outdoors but at least it's got proper bogs and a place where you can smoke. I find the North Stand seats designed for our short overworked ancestors induce DVT in the modern punter.

I'm North stand, dead centre. My view is more or less the best you can get, but the legroom is a killer there. If you're 6"+ it's a job folding up enough to get comfy.
South is a 'space-fest' when I sit there for cup games but I just find it a bit dull over there.
I don't know what it is with that bit of the ground and it's inhabitants izzy, but they all seem to hoik up a lovely portion of phlegm when I negotiate my way past them. 'Oi, he's coming - get yer greenies ready!'
Disgraceful, they should be tugging their forelocks at your learned presence!
Nonsense, Mike! They should be on my estate, digging coal from my private seam. The ballroom won't heat itself.
Or slaving over a hot tripe press!
