Things are not looking good.
I'm tempted this say that ANYTHING we've had previously would be better than this. Hughes would be nice though.
"We could be looking at his replacement having a worse record than him...at a lower level. Food for thought"
---------------
How many of the players last night were signed by Berg? Who signed absolute dross (at a premium!) like Formica? Who was behind the signing of Etuhu? Because after watching him last night i felt a little bit sick. No passion, barely conscious, not closing down, giving the ball away, and rightly hauled off.
The pedestrian Danny Murphy?
The stupefyingly frustrating Ruben Rochina? (constant tunnel-vision, doesn't pass enough, lost the ball i-don't-know-how-many-times last night).
I'm not saying Berg is a top-drawer manager, but you need to remember how imbalanced a squad and frankly how overrated the players he has inherited are.
"I'm tempted this say that ANYTHING we've had previously would be better than this."
------------
Let's get Paul Ince on the phone then.
Interesting that you are putting forward these mitigating circumstances to try to defend Berg.
I doubt you did the same when we started poorly under Kean when he had inherited some dross from Allardyce.
Chimbonda, Goulon, Linganzi, Salgado....
Problem is Wow Big Sam had that dross around 7-10th in the Premier league. Kean did not.
Unfortunately the Venky's have used up all their goodwill very quickly. By association any of their appointees will have limited 'slack' including Berg. He might get a few months extra due to past endeavours but come the end of February when we are nestled around 15th the sounds of discontent will be heard.
Had Kean won games all would have been accepted (even 100% pro Big Sam). Unfortunately he didn't and he should have gone much earlier.
Venky's have taken another risk with an unproven manager. We all want him to succeed as we did Kean. However surely there were more suitable appointments experience wise that we could have got?
Deep down we all know the root cause of our problems but it is the manager that takes the flak.
Indeed wow - you seem to be justifying your idiotic support of Kean by having a go at a bloke that inherited a shambles. You endlessly told us that Keans fortunes would change with winnable games just around the corner yet write off Bergs chances in upcoming fixtures.
Your football knowledge is worrying. Sam kept us up and got us to 10th at a net gain of £30m. Kean spent much more money than him to get us relegated. Berg is dealing with his mess.
Now, Berg was not my first choice, experience was required. You seem to merely be trying to deflect attention from your own stupidity, the way to do this isn't by being increasingly stupid!
I just find it staggering that Berg will probably finish the season around 15th in the championship and yet receive less stick than Kean did when he finished 16th in the Prem in 2010/11!!!!
Kean took a squad challenging for a top half finish to minutes from relegation... Berg has inherited a squad that was in a falsely high (imo) position which has quite possibly the worst midfield in the league, which means we get steamrolled by pretty much everyone.
This weekend could be a disaster.
Wow- they are not starting from the same basepoint!
The damage is done- there is no longer any great expectation. As RTM says we have no midfield to speak of.
That invites pressure on the defence and even a good defence, and our is not, would eventually begin to look very fragile, like ours does.
At present I can't decide if we are fighting for promotion or avoiding relegation. Next four games might qualify this?
Due to the farce that's developing, avoiding relegation is more likely to be the realistic aim.
When appointed, Berg said that the minimum expectation of him and from the board was promotion. If results continue going the way they are, it will be interesting to see what, if any, decisions will be made if it looks likely that that’s not going to happen.
To say that it is not 'likely' that we will be promoted is being very generous. Berg is way out of his depth.
a generous sprinkle of pepper.
Will Berg do the honourable thing and quit when we get to 18th?
I say the next guy at least has to have Hair, I can't stand another potato head, sorry.
In fact, that is the secret! All our recent good managers had hair! Why has no one else thought of that?
Pathetic, drinkin' agin

Wow you are such a poor poster
"inherited some dross from Allardyce.
Chimbonda, Goulon, Linganzi, Salgado"
Goulon and Linganzi were kids. They hardly played. Like inheriting 634 portugese youngsters.....that hardly played. Why aren't the Portugese lads saving our season.
Salgado was poor under Kean because his system exposed Salgado's failing pace - he was much better under Allardyce. Chimbonda was backup.
Dross now starting for us: Murphy (captain), Etuhu (CM), Dann (CB). Hanley is overplayed and Henley is inexperienced and raw. Rochina is this season's Hoillet and Formica doesn't look good enough for this level. Pretty important positions to have such dross left you by Kean.
This season, January is important for us. We have to stay in contention and spend in the right areas (CM, CB) and not buy any more bleedin' forwards
If you're having a Berg vs Kean argument you can measure it 2 ways:
1. Start point to end point - Kean is worse.
2. Position in the table - Berg is worse.
I like to let the figures do the talking whenever possible so I won't disagree with wow in that so far in some respects we've got worse since Kean's exit.
However the manager that was light years better than both is Sam Allardyce. And I'm not sure wow how on earth you can justify getting rid of him.
Good discussion apart from my rubbish, at least no one has accused me of Folliculism - or is that some weird Romanian cult. More rubbish from me, a bit like t'Rovers at present. Bring back Dally Duncan eh Star? he was bald but at least we could laugh at him.
Suppin' now

You all seem to be dealing with it remarkably well..
I'm hoping you get yourself ready for more sorrow if you play the same at the weekend....
I know a well educated man currently sipping pimms in Florida that's smiling in anticipation..
Think thats a combination of the total disillusionment thats been present at the club since Kean took over and this derby meaning more to you guys than it does to us. We'll be a lot more upset if the same happens again on Sunday, but still not nearly as much as we would have been 3 years ago, when Burnley would have beaten a club to be proud of.
"and this derby meaning more to you guys than it does to us."
Yeah, it's like RIO up Bradshawgate now... Freedman has the keys to the town and Chung Yong Lee has been given free take away for life...
The town is ready to forward Kevin Davies for a Knighthood...
Oh no wait..... It's just 3 points...
Jeeze this plastic manc keeps coming on here.Go play with your new mate with a Dingle post code...
"Berg is way out of his depth"
Again must point out, you supported Kean from 10th to relegation despite his lying, illegal behaviour, pay rises. Berg inherits his failure and you don't give him half a dozen games...
