As a fan, I will be the first to admit he is very overrated amongst the fans
We were playing badly before he came back.
Our downfall has nothing to do with Wilshere.
We haven't looked convincing since diaby got injured to be honest. Apart from spurs match, but that was agaisnt 10 men. Wilshere got nothing to do with it. He certainly hasnt been excellent like pre injury, but he's not been as bad as, ramsey and arteta.
Let me rephrase that a bit. Obviously wilshere has something to do with us playing so bad because he's in the team. But he isnt the reason we have been so awful recently. The midfield is completely unbalanced. The best balance we could have would be
--Wilshere--Diaby--cazorla
Average player.....but young and English so over hyped by media and fans who believe the drool ....said it many times Wilshire is a young Joey Barton in more ways than one.
Great article OP. 5 stars.
I think too like Castor Troy said that Wilshere is overrated among the Arsenal fans. Most think he is a new Messiahs.
Don't get me wrong. He has potential when you comparing him technically to some other english young players but he needs some time to see his full potential.
Wenger is the only reason why we are so awful now
Wilshere has played of a 3 man midfield who have been terrible so his inclusion hasn't exactly had a big impact.
I'm not sure Wilshere knows himself what type of player he is and his ideal position, whether it be as a creative midfielder or someone who sits backs.
Anyhow, like a poster suggested, he is a good player who has a touch of a European player rather then a rigid Englishman which is one of the reason the media and fans adore him to death
We've been pants since Diaby injury apart from the last 20 minutes vs West Ham.
If truth be told we have been in decline for years. If it weren't for RvP's goals last season we would have been in a similar (or worse) position last season.
Don't tell me Batmanu that we depending on Diaby?
WWSPD, we were in a worse position last year.

Last season we had 8 more points after 15 games than we do this time.
Arseblog said it yesterday: This season is what last season would have been without Van Persie.
We miss Song more than Van Persie.

Which was my point.
Hard to fathom why some fans are so shocked in regard to our results.
It’s not exactly rocket science to recognise that years of under investment, and invariable tactics are eventually going to adversely effect results.
How many points we had on its own doesnt matter. It has to be taken comparatively to the rest if the league.
You were 2pts behind us after 15 games last season but we had a game in hand (Everton, which we won)
Exactly the same position really - you were essentially 5pts off 4th. The difference this season is there are teams inbetween us - 5 instead of none.

Cheers for the replies guys. Had a genuine interest and as some have mentioned I am unsure of Wilshere's best position. He looks an intelligent footballer, reads the game and passes well - puts Tom Cleverly to shame. But i don't think he's as good as the pundits suggest or they type that can drag a team upwards single handedly...
