Can you please explain what relevance that statement has to the article?

Happy to oblige, mike phelen wrongly accused a Chelsea groundsmen of racism to cover up Evras poor behaviour, you said it's wrong to try an ruin someone's career with a made up allegation.

I completely agree, Chelsea and united were Wrong to do this, be it a ref or a groundsman it's a nasty thing to do.

And missing a test could mean he was trying to rid his system with a masking agent, kolo failed a test but the substance wasn't performance improving, and the explanation was believable.

There was rumours of rio being a druggy so his reputation went against him not anything united had done.

Rio offered to provide a hair follicle sample. No masking agent can get rid of that.

Rio was shopping when he missed the test, claiming he forgot. Didn't he retake the test and pass?

Ruining a refs career is a bit different to ruining a glorified gardener, but how can you know what said? Didn't they get charged?

Right, didnt know that, there's no way to beat a hair test.

I personally dont think that Ramires should face any punishment. How can you punish someone who genuinely thought he had witnessed racism?

The problem for me was with how Mikel and the club reacted. Mikel should have gone and spoken to Clattenburg to tell him what had been said and get his version. I am sure that would have sorted it all out. Failing that, the club should have taken some time to investigate a little, found out what was allegedly said and then spoken to the ref themselves. They should not have been stood in front of the media within 90 minutes of the game ending, saying what they had. Clattenburg is perhaps the most squeky clean ref in the league, and they didn't even give him a chance to tell them his version of events? That is a disgrace.

I'm surprised Ramires was never punished.

Rio passed the test hours later. It was ridiulous he got banned.

Maybe it wasn't his hair? I always thought it was a bit strange a bald guy supplied hair for a drugs test..

Exactly. The numbskull was actually photographed in the street shopping whilst the testers were waiting for him.

I think he shot himself in the foot by coming up with some BS story about forgetting because he was busy moving house. The reality was he went shopping! Maybe he was buying a new tea and sugar pot?

Or a wig to beat the drugs test?

The rules for missing a test were probably not amended since before hair testing became viable as a detection technology.

Yep rio was shopping with bergovic of man city. When he realises he missed his test he immediately called advising he could be back for the test within the hour but was told it was too late!!

He retook the test using hair so he'd certainly taken no recreational or performance enhancing drugs as such, but growth hormones couldn't be ruled out.

Bringing us onto the argument, why isn't Messi banned?

Messi pops growth hormones like they are smarties. Dirty little druggy cheat. At least Diego was clean.

Messi is the darling of football at the moment.

Is it only me who hopes he doesn't beat that record everyone is knocking one out over?

Not really bothered either way.

We all know that without those pills he wouldnt have scored any headers this season. Der Bomber didn't take any drugs to cheat his way to 85 goals in one year.

I see loz just cannot stick to the op thread. Has to bei g united in with past circumstances that have nothing to do with racism!! Why cannot you just comment on something that doesn't involve united.....and you wonder why we laugh at you and call your lot bitter and united obsessed!

"I think that Mikel has got off lightly. He should have approached Clattenburg, told him what had been claimed and asked for his version. I am sure that the matter would have been cleared up quickly without all of this hassle. Irrespective of what he had been told by a team mate, he should not have steamed in threatening a referee. A three game ban is very lenient in my opinion. "

I agree, if that's what happened.

"Clattenburg didnt get a ban. He got paid leave. "

And the difference is? Players still get paid when they are banned so "paid leave" is the same as a "suspension" which is basically a ban, is it not?

Call it what you like, Clattenberg was banned.
