Bayern beat Madrid last season. Dortmund beat them this season. You're talking rubbish if you think nobody else has a chance against them.

So are your boys Man United

I said Bayern were even with Man United.

Dortmund beat madrid in the groups. As good as Dortmund are, the knockouts are a different story. I think the likes of Real, Barca and Man U (if Fergie sets up right) will beat them.

But we aren't as good as them. Which is what I'm saying.

I don't know what Man United you've been watching. Certainly not the one we've all been dispairing at for the last few seasons.

I don't think it is that different. It shows they are good enough to compete with the best.

We've not shown anything to suggest we can. Not in the premier league or in Europe.

The big problem to me is however good that line-up looks and great the individuals are as a team we have been useless this season. Kagawa was an awesome player during his Dortmund days but we are not set up at all to use him to his strengths. Nani for whatever reason this season has not played well while no one can really tell if Vidic will ever return to his old form.

It's not just a case of having 11 big names on the pitch its about how well they gel as a team, right now there is sadly nothing to suggest Ferguson or our staff are doing much to improve that. We seem to go into games so naively, lacking urgency or pace, usually trying to just keep possession without ideas further up the field.

dortmund are quite a way ahead of us currently, and if they can keep their players will only get stronger.

They never kept Kagawa, plus they could get injuries (so could you), need some of that luck too.

I prefer Uniteds squad over Dortmunds.

11 points behind Bayern in their league and playing their best stuff in Europe.

They are a very good team but we have a better squad hence us balancing both Europe and the league.

If they get knocked out in the CL in the second round then they have nothing to play for.

I know which team i'd rather be. The team very much in both competitions with plenty of room to improve

posted on 7/12/12

we play in a totally different league Rob, you cant compare league standings.

anyone who has watched them this season in the CL can see they are miles ahead of us in terms of performance and technique.

I read an article a few weeks back that said that Dortmund play such a high tempo game that it's impossible to maintain twice a week hence their poor season in the Bundesliga.

The guy said that they are throwing all their energy into trying to win the CL.

That's fair enough and I can see them doing so if they keep this level up over the season but if they get knocked out of Europe then their season is over.

We may not be as exciting as them but I personally like having a level to step up to while balancing the league and CL perfectly.

It seems to me Dortmund probably aware their squad isn't big enough to go for both the Bundesliga and CL have decided to concentrate on the CL. This might be completely wrong but for the past 2 seasons they have clearly shown what they can achieve in the Bundesliga and are now turning their attention to the CL where they have been the best team so far. I know it's only been the group stages and a lot can change till we get to the knockout stage BUT Dortmund have shown they clearly have the quality to win the CL unlike us. Right now they are head and shoulders above us in terms of ability.

Squad doesn't mean anything. They are a superior football team.

They've started off slowly in the league and unfortunately for them Bayern have been incredible.

But as a football team their level is far superior to ours. Our squad having more depth won't make any difference to them if we play them.

It didn't to City and Madrid.

The funny thing is that for the first 30 minutes City matched Dortmund (in the first game) and had they taken their chances they may well have won that game.

What we do have (and what Darren I think alluded to) is clinical strikers so we could well just beat Dortmund by outscoring them.

Plus Darren, Dortmund aren't even second! Leverkusen are. Dortmund have been as bad in their league this season as they have been good in Europe.

Just goes to show, if United sacrificed the league, even they would look class in Europe.

I wouldn't say it is really sacraficing the league.

Given the fact they've been so consistent for the last two seasons and then lost two of their best players and brought in Reus, a slow start was expected.

And then the fact that Bayern have been so expectional, won 12 of 15, has seen them fall off the pace. In any other season they'd probably be top and safely through in the CL.

WhiteCar, if United sacaraficed the league we still wouldn't be playing football on the level that they are.

But Powell isn't too far off and buying a CM now might delay his development by a few years.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

But Ando isn't too far off and buying a CM now might delay his development by a few years.

But Clev isn't too far off and buying a CM now might delay his development by a few years.

But Pogba isn't too far off and buying a CM now might delay his development by a few years.

But Morrison isn't too far off and buying a CM now might delay his development by a few years.

But Gibson isn't too far off and buying a CM now might delay his development by a few years.

But Eikrem isn't too far off and buying a CM now might delay his development by a few years.

Anyone else fed up of waiting for the next CM to come good at United? We've waited for all these players already plus we waited years for Hargreaves to return.

FFS by the time Powell comes good we will need replacements for Carrick and Fletcher, as well as Giggs and Scholes. Possibly Ando as well if he can't sort out his injuries.

It does my head in that people think our transfer policy should revolve entirely around players that might or might not come good in 2-3 years. How many youngsters have made it over the last 25 years at United? Very, very few. Yet the fans still seem to believe that all our youngsters will come good and that the experienced players are standing in their way!!

if they are good enough then they will make it regardless of who they have to compete with. The real problems arise when youngsters are given a place in the team without ever really having to earn it or compete with anybody decent.

If we sign a CM and Powell can't get in the team then that quite simply means Powell isn't good enough. If he is good enough then he will make it regardless.
