you may not like the truth, but i said to my mates before it i expected the celtic fans to respect it this time, and the vast majority did, but there are always some in both sides of the supports who cant help themselves, coughing was their only outlet that day, i would love to say it was a perfect silence but i cant lie.
in my heart of hearts i would love to one day get to a point where its only football that gets discussed in scotland, incidently what did you think of die hard celtic fan bernard ponsonbys one sided tripe tonight on scotland today, i bet you like that wee number, painted non rcs lovely
Being quite a poignant occassion and all, as the teams came onto the park led by Mr Greig n McNeill, either the guy videoing it or someone close by decided to urge everyone ever so vocally to " get into thay fen bassas".
bigotted tripe
Well respected by the Berz eh?
Not the vast majortity that day-They all did. Accept it, get over it and move on. Next! Scotland Today? didnt see it! Was it good?

How does that insinuate that I am bigotted? Or are you refering to your fellow fans who shouted it?
Morbhoy........poor effort trying to link a dodgy journo story with what you call the fight against sectarianism in Scotland.
The News of the World collapse reveals how low the press can go to get stories.Lennon and the old firm sell papers and at times Lennon amd the old firm are guilty of making the news.
Morbhoy appears to be trying to stir the sectarian pot with his article.Imagine that,a sectarian celt, when we all know only us Bears are sectarian, aye right.
For the benefit of those who didn't make the connection.
How can it be helpful to the efforts to move Scottish football away from the trouble caused by bias, bigotry and sectarianism which has been agreed by clubs, self serving politicians and equally self serving police when the countrys biggest selling daily rag publishes a misleading headline and makes up quotes on the first weekend of the new season.
In a decent world Celtic would ban the "journalist" and the paper from CP but that would only give them grounds for complaint and an excuse to write more rubbish.
The SFA & SPL should take action against the paper as should Salmond but none of them have the cojones.
thebluebellsareblue, you work for a rag, don't you?
These rags inflame the animosity between the people of Scotland.
They really should be held responsible.
Responsible journalism. There's a novel idea.
Duty of care applies to barmen, bookies, airlines- why not papers
The bluebellsareblue
You admit it's a dodgy story and compare it with the depths reached by the NOW and yet you still don't think stuff like this has any effect on sectarianism?
It's precisely articles like this that cause trouble and get reactions from those who are unable to realise that very little of what is written about football in rags like this is accurate.
It's not good enough to just say it's "dodgy journalism", this is the opening of the season for goodness sake and they're at it already.
Did you hear the chants about Lennon at the game tonight? Why his presence at Dunfermline should warrant that is beyond me but this is the kind of reaction you get after publishing lies.
How does that insinuate that I am bigotted? Or are you refering to your fellow fans who shouted it?
YOU SAID one guy shouted it , then you said my fellow fans and that he was respected by bears
you my dear bhoy are a bigot of the most vile variety and the scary part is you dont even realise it
i was there and a lot of celts that day pretended to have a cough for about half a minute follewed by wee ghirly laughter, oh the banter
morbhoy
i am not defending any tabloid here when i say this because i dont read any of them but how on earth do you know that the paper isnt telling the truth here, you seem to have convinced yourself that the paper is lying, now dont say it always lies or it always lies about celtic, because no one at all would buy it if it only contained lies
Did you hear the chants about Lennon at the game tonight? Why his presence at Dunfermline should warrant that is beyond me but this is the kind of reaction you get after publishing lies
so the daily record made people chat songs about him?
thats just absurd! maybe just maybe the pars and the saints think he is a we nyaff
This article has gone way off course....
Try reading the Herald/Guardian/Scotsman on the same subject.
It's made quite clear that Lennon asked the delegate why the goal was disallowed and made a joke about it at his press conference.
I certainly would wipe my bottom with this rag for fear of contamination.
The paper makes stories up, always has and no doubt always will.
I'm well aware that football stories sell papers but they also have a responsibility to society, especially in the current climate.
As has been posted before, back page lies which could incite trouble, editorial decrying sectarianism, cake and eat it ?
U mean that cold day in january when the temp was in the minus numbers, and people were coughing? You ever been to a church service or something with a lot of people when there are silences, perhaps like conference perhaps? There are always people coughing, even in summer when the weather is good. You wanted Celtic fans to break the silence, that would be my guess, and when they didn't you like the rest of the lower orders of your fellow supporters chose to believe the coughing was an organised thing. The sad thing is you are a bigot and you dont even know it.
Not much point trying to convince help for heroes and Baader, you should stick to failing to be funny.
Quebec blames the rags for animosity between people and this may be true as papers want to make profits, but Celtic fans behave in sectarian ways and many bhoys deny this.
Songs, chants, attacks on rival fans, flag waving,anti-poppy campaigns etc from Celtic fans are more likely to create animosity among people than dodgy stories by lazy journo's.Are you all trying to address the bigotry, violence and hatred from Celtic fans?
Lennon urged Celtic to get into the faces of officials.Lennon constantly implies there is an anti-Celtic and pro-Rangers agenda in Scottish football.Lennon rants and raves on the touchline and indulges in wind up displays against rival fans.Lennon brings up his Irish Catholic roots in interviews for the media. Is Lennon possibly creating animosity among Scottish people as even Hibs fans dislike him and that is not for so called sectarian reasons.
I do not believe Lennon or Novo or anyone should be threatened or attacked before the old"justification"cliche is trotted out bhoys.
If you want to have a pop at journo's,fair enough, but look in your own mirror too.
I admit Rangers have a problem.Time for Celtic fans to admit they do too, instead of deflecting and denying reality.
darkskies
the coughing came from 1 stand, it was the broomloan, yes it was cold
morbhoy why do you even read the stuff they write, rebekha brooks was complaining last week at the hearing that stories are just being completely made up about her, now how hilarious and ironic is that really dont take it too serious just laugh at it, the bbc tried to make out ally was finding sectarianism funny but a blind man could see it was edited, every one know ally would never laugh at it, is it that serious
thebluebells - can u give me one specific example of celtic fans demonstrating anti protestantism? Just one.
help - can you prove that no one in the other 3 stands coughed and if they did cough were they part of the conspiracy?
The bellsareblue,
I think your last post is a classic piece of deflection.
I hadn't realised Lennon was to blame for all the problems in Scottish football and the fact that you're surprised that Hibs fans don't like only confirms that you don't really know as much about football as you think.
give it up

help for heroes,
I don't read the rag, I read the item on the Celtic website as I said in the OP.
I didn't see anything about McCoist so can't comment on that.
I am old enough and educated enough to see through the rubbish that's printed and would ignore it but for the fact that so much publicity is being given to anti-sectarianism at the moment and it's junk like this that will cause some silly, young boys to get into trouble with the authorities.
How does that improve society?
darkskies
you are asking me to give you evidence on something that is completely immposibble to prove anywhere let alone a forum, thats like me asking you to prove that no one in the broomloan coughed, just absurd
there is no conspiracy, i really dont know why you would think there was, is that a celtic thing? bringing conspiracies into it
i was at the game and i can assure you there was a very strange amount of coughs coming from the celtic end during the minutes silence, it was disproptionate and i swear that on my two sons lives who i adore with every part of me, i would never say that lightly, i would love to say well done you respected the minutes silence, but you didnt you coughed
