Gerrard is still our best attacking midfielder. He gets criticised because Gerrard of old is still in people's memory and people want more.
England best player in Euro .. shows he's still got it but he just need to calm down and trust his team attacking abilities .

So are you telling me that if Gerrard puts a ball in, and lands on our players head but the player had no chance of scoring - that counts as a key pass?
-------------------------------
No. Opta clarify what a key pass is. Read the article first before commenting.
"We have only scored 22 goals this season - why haven't we scored any more?"
Simply we don't have any goalscorers, only Suarez.
"People were defending Stevie because they felt we needed Lucas back. Lucas has been back for 2 games and Stevie has been awful"
Stevie was one of our best players in Lucas' first game back and played well in the last game being one of a few making forward penetrating passes, often getting the wide player in down the right, mainly Johnson, which on one occasion resulted in an assist and a goal for Johnson.
Look at Kenny's first half season at the start 2011 - look how well we played when Stevie was injured. Goals, wins and points. Brilliant.
Then look at second half of 2012 - we may not have had the results but we were still in touching distance of 4th and played great football.
Stevie comes back for 2012 - we didn't get the results and performances sufffered, and only up until a month ago, we had only won 2 homes games all season. Is it a coincidence?
--------------------------
So Gerrard is to blame for Kenny's massive spending on players not suited to the system he then changed it to for the next seaosn?
Please.

---------------------------------
No - it's because we don't create enough clear cut chances!

------------------------------
So Stevie played the ball to Johnson who was clean through on goal and scored? In case you didn't see it - Johno had to drive towards the box, weave in between players and take a long range shot which went it.
If we can do this all the time, then brilliant and Stevie is the key pass master.
Chances are, playing that single pass to johno would not result in a goal.
Talk to me when Stevie creates a chance where you EXPECT to score i.e. like Jose has done.

Again you need to look up the definition of a key pass along with Liverpool's chance creation. You will see that we are among the top contenders for chances created, but among the lowest converters. Do you watch Liverpool or check their stats? Are you a Liverpool supporter?
LFC-009
Our chance conversion rate was the worst in Europe last season. We had pretty much the most chances on goal in the league last season and probably close to the top again this season.
There is no point in creating clear cut chances if we only have one player capable of putting them away, and he is not exactly clinical anyway! Had we had a poacher last season and so far this then we would have scored much more from any of the chances that have been created, clear cut or otherwise.
So Gerrard is to blame for Kenny's massive spending on players not suited to the system he then changed it to for the next seaosn?
Please.
------------------
Funny that - Suarez seemed to perform well?
Gerrard is an all time legend. He is the most complete player I have come across.
But excuses for him not playing in the right system, with the wrong players isn't good enough. Basics like passing and control should be easy but he fails at that.
Tracking a man and pressing isn't something that can be done when you're on form.
He is lazy now. His body language is pessimistic.
"Chances are, playing that single pass to johno would not result in a goal."
Chances are it would, as it did and that's the point. Without that pass, we wouldn't have scored.
He knows which passes to make and he's one of a few who penetrate. No point doing like we did for most of the game passing backwards and sideways. Goals win matches and Gerrard is one of a few players who will provide goals in one way or another.
Talk to me when you were told that Gerrard was creating chances and penetrating and then later the stats backed it up,proving you wrong. Oh wait you are, still. Arguing with facts.
The wummery in strong in this one.
I've not read the article - I mainly go on what I see and use the stats as half the argument.
Not disputing that we miss chances. Our conversion rate is terrible.
We've had a large number of chances but I guarantee that less than 50% of these chances aren't clear cut. We may have 20 shots a game but most of them are pot shots from outside the box!
TOOR they guy is a lost cause... In fact I'd say that he is a mid-level WUM.
(In my best Columbo voice)
He almost had me. It was the Glen Johnson comment... He said he had to weave through players to score, but anyone who watched this game saw that the defenders backed away. He clearly isn't a Liverpool fan.

That's our system though, we don't really have a striker in the box. Suarez drops deep and the wide forwards are expected to overlap. this doesn't work as well as it should because Suarez isn't patient and instead too direct, turning to dribble most of the time.
We need a striker.
I'm not a wum. I'm a Liverpool fan but I refuse to kiss SG's a*se.
Anyways, enjoy your stats. As I have mentioned (on numerous occasions but everyone seems to ignore it) Enrique has created more Clear Cut Chances than Gerrard despite playing far fewer matches.

Agreed that we need a new striker. But I highly doubt that BR will bring in a recognised CF, considering when Suarez has scored 10 goals as the False 9.
Which is a shame, as I believe Luis could be very effective playing as the inside forward.
People don't understand BR football. In his system Gerrard is not the main Creator of chances. The wide forwards are. Gerrard main is to keep possession and find forwards and full backs..
We do create so many chances but it wouldn't be Gerrards fault if we don't.

Apologies - that was my mistake. What I was trying to say is that it's not as if Gerrard had played a ball into Johnson who was then in a position where he should score.
It was just a simple pass, which is then transformed into some magical, key, penetrative pass when it was all down to the brilliance of Johnson.

If you take ten goals and add that up over the season, you'd get around twenty-five goals. That won't get us top eight. We need other players to score and we don't have any.

Not only that - as well as Luis has done this season, I still don't see him as the 25-30+ goal a season striker.
I think we definitely need someone with more experience and cooler head up front. Would love to see Hunterlaar up front but that looks unlikely.
It was amazing the number of times Gerrard picked out Johnson against Southampton when Johnson was high up the pitch.
LFC 009 is a sock account.
The 009 has made some false statement. Most of our goals in normal play has come from inside the box. In fact most of our shots are taking from inside the box.
No point saying that, he doesn't deal in facts.
