Last 30 minutes against Newcastle too
Same with Chelsea. Just because they had two players sent off doesn't mean that we ourselves were bad for that last 30 mins.
Whether Arsenal were bad or not doesn't mean we didn't play well.
And while we didn't thrash West Ham we controlled the entire game and had 13 shots on target.

they weren't what you would call 'good manchester united performances' though, city away was without doubt

Fair enough. I can't and won't argue about your assessment about him. On the other thread people were being most unfair about the guy and I stood up for him.
At no point did I say he was the best in the world or something silly like that but what I said was fairly accurate. Some people thought otherwise.

You deserve to be Top of the table, no argument about that.

But you are a poor side.

People are going to have to open their eyes to reality soon.

The so-called 'Best League in the world' is absolute garbage.

dont think the fans of any team have ever said the prem is the best league in the world anyway.

More the people who are selling it & making millions off it.

Our league isn't garbage. We just happen to be the best team.

Bayern are 14 points ahead of Dortmund and Barca are 11 points ahead of Real!

We don't have the best league in the world but it is the most entertaining, only the German league comes close in that respect.

Have a look at that League table.

12/14 of the 20 are Championship Clubs.

TBF both Bayern and Barca have played far better than us this season and would probably beat us. Barca might not be the same a couple seasons ago but with that Argentine midget he can pretty much beat teams on his own.

Be that as it may, there's a difference between us being better or worse than Barca/Bayern and the league being 'garbage!'.

Take England's 4 best teams with what they have and I reckon they are United, Chelsea, Spurs and City.

Germany's are Bayern, Dortmund, Schalke and Leverkusen.

Spain's are Barca, Real, Ath Madrid and Malaga.

I think they're all pretty even with Spain slightly ahead.

Carrick is better than La Liga and the Bundesliga combined.

..does the simple stuff selflessly and allows better players to play!

I've never said the PL is garbage, the standard this season has however been fairly average. Like you've mentioned before the PL is a very entertaining league but that has no real relation to the quality. So far this season none of the big clubs have shone and we have been the best of an average lot. But like some will say you can only beat what's put out in front of you and if everyone else in the league is playing poor then it can probably be hard to up your own game.

I think a look at how teams have performed in Europe shows you roughly we do not possess the powerful teams we did 5/6 years ago.

The massive difference between the PL and La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A is money, the amount pumped into the PL compared to the others is ridiculous and you would think it would correlate somewhat to the quality but it doesn't.

West Ham and Sunderland may sneak in, may not.

Villa and Everton offer nothing, the aren't even also rans, more also tagged on for the ride.

The only teams who even try to win are Chelsea and the two Mancs.

Tottenham and Arsenal are meh

And everyone else is sh|te

I didn't say you said it was garbage, just paraphrasing someone else but surely the money in the league makes for a more competitive league.
Sure, United might be doing better than the rest but there truly are no easy games anymore in this league.

The money is more fairly spread out and a lot more of the lesser teams are getting their share of the money (unlike La Liga) and they can all beat each other.

Quality is a hard thing to gauge. One team might have quality attackers but come up against a team with a quality defence and the result is a game where little quality is seen to the naked eye.

I don't think there is a way to say one way or the other but there is a good argument for the idea that our league is a good league due to the competitiveness and not garbage because Chelsea and Arsenal aren't whipping teams 7-0 every week.

I'd rather see a league where Norwich, West Ham and Swansea can beat the likes of United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

We have good teams like Spurs, Everton and Liverpool who on their day could beat a lot of teams in Europe.

OP, are you insinuating that first place doesn't really exist?

posted on 12/12/12

I dunno, I enjoy watching the PL and there are always exciting games but I just feel the money involved is slowly killing it. Player wages are way too high, far too many teams in England going into administration, youth not really given a chance, manager sackings way too often. I guess it all adds to the entertainment but it is getting a little out of control.

I have far more respect for how things are done in Germany, a real respect towards fans who have a say, after all football is for the fans and the PL treat them like $hit.
