You have overlooked Robbie Savage
..oh and you should be wary of the backlash on here.. 24 hours in to my life on ja606 and I have already made the mistake of believing the myth regarding the famous 'scouse humour' and fallen foul of their complete intolerance for even genuine and constructive contributions from non-Liverpool fans..
Bunch of s
I actually think Hansens point is a valid one, it's just that he was to sweeping with his generalisation. I think you can afford to have maybe 2-3 players who are 21 or under in the starting 11 but it needs to contain experienced players of proven quality to win big trophies.
A team with 7-8 players who are 21 or under will do well to win anything, it does of course help if you have Peter Schmichael in goal, Gray Pallister at centre back, Roy Keane in midfield, Eric Cantona and Andy Cole up front and Alex Ferguson as manager, and the young players that come through are of the quality of Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and David Beckham
Apart from Giggs all the other players had to bide their time, the weren't thrown into the first team by the manager. I remember Beckham playing a league cup during the 93/94 season and Butt playing in the 93/94 FA Cup campaign, as well as them all playing for the reserves during that period. It probably took 2-3 years of reserve team football, going out on loan and being bled in gently before they were 'unleashed' as one at the start of the 95/96 season.
I have already made the mistake of believing the myth regarding the famous 'scouse humour' and fallen foul of their complete intolerance for even genuine and constructive contributions from non-Liverpool fans..

Try living in Liverpool for 4 years mate, you will hate them (and yes, i do mean hate)
I disagree, barca have shown that you can still produce a number of quality players capable of winning trophies. Only the other day they had 11 players on the pitch that had all come through la masia, we've had nothing close to that.

To be fair to him, Hansen was merely verbalising what the majority of football fans were thinking after that Villa game..
You are certainly right, people seem to overlook the calibre of the other players in the team that season and the poor quality of opposition. The fledglings were lucky to graduate when they did... Butt and P. Neville, certainly wouldn't have made it if he had come through our ranks even 10 years ago. In fact, of that group, I think that Scholes would have been the only one that would have been able to force himself into our team between 2000-2008.
That's just my opinion though and certainly open for discussion...

Don't get me wrong, i think you can have a team full of home grown players, but i don't think they can all be between 18-21 and still produce the same results over the course of a season. The Barca players who played against Levante were mostly in their mid to late twenties.
I think we did field a team against Stoke a few seasons ago that included Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Fletcher, Gibson, Evans and Brown a "slight" difference in quality, but we won and it was very academy heavy.

a "slight" difference in quality
Yes, as slight as the difference between a Venison Steak and a Big Mac...

I was talking about the premier league. but your point is well taken mate. Barca are definitely a unique side
Barca are definitely a unique side
-------
Unique in being the only team to get scandalously lucky in successive Champion's League Finals against the mighty MUFC
Dirty cheats... it's a shame because they don't need to dive and intimidate the ref all game because if they actually knuckle down and concentrate on playing football then they have a couple of decent players and would have a good shot at beating us fairly over 90 minutes...
they beat us fair and square at wembley. get over it
Clearly you didn't watch the match Quimby...

- I'm trying to find the bloody advert myself now too. It's got Elle Goulding playing in the background, Lil Wayne is in it too and Robin Van Persie smiling throughout. I don't know where it is. I just watched it on T.V myself
The only proof I am not lying is this site where someone has said
'Have I just seen Robin Van Persie and Lil Wayne in the same advert for headphones'
