Lewandowski for £18 million

If Lewandowski is coming then we're shifting a striker for sure, most likely Wellbeck. No way, Rooney, Lewandowski and Van Persie are going to be okay with consistently being rotated.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if this pushes Hernandez out the door too. The man has been ridiculously patient, are we now expecting him to be okay with being the clubs fourth choice striker?!

So we unsettle two hot prospects for someone who may not adapt to Prem football?

Please

I actuallly hope this is just paper talk, we don't need any more strikers, Rooney, RVP, Hernandez and Welbs is fine, a goal poacher and three who can all go long, drop deep, link play and are comfortable in possession.

Lewandowski is a top player, but we have top players that play in his position, it would be a colossal waste of 18 million and/or wages if he comes on a free in the summer, there's other areas of the pitch that need strengthening for me.

Just typed in Lewandowski into google just to see what his age was. The whole front page is links about his move to Manchester United and how he's on the verge, contracts have been agreed. Seriously, do not see the point in this if it's true.

Darkphoenix

We need to keep Hernandez at all costs, he's been a model player, never complains and goal scoring poacher! hard to find one of them

We're fully saturated up front.

Do we really need him?

Exactly shafiul. Sir Alex hasn't even put these rumours to bed either.

we don't need him

what is fergie thinking, unless rooney will be moved in to the midfield for which is is not good enough

But if he does come to OT, Hernandez will most likely make away as he has already expressed his desire for more game time and don't forget: Welbeck just signing a new contract last summer...

Sir Alex is a WUM because he knows how to wind us all up. What does he want? Convert Rooney to a midfielder, Wellbeck to a left/right-winger and we have 3 strikers? There's no plausibility in this.

Hopefully he'll come out and deny this all. In fact, why aren't Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool not getting out the chequebook? He's there for the taking!

Doubt its true, it just makes a more glamorous story being linked to a striker rather than a Centre back or something, added to that signing him would hinder us more than help.

Well he did convert Alan Smith to a midfielder...

I doubt he will join us...But for the sake of the argument, let's assume he did...

SAF isn't going to pick Welbeck ahead of Chicha...

Chicha is way more capable than welbeck and offers more atm. SAF will not sell a gifted finisher like him. Van persie looks like the only quality striker worth starting. Now Rooney isn't a consistent striker but still a consistent and very good player for the team for sure. Chicha isn't gonna be starting apparently nor Welbeck, I just don't see where or how Welbeck fits in unless he improves fast on his finishing which is why i think chicha has the edge. Goals win games.

In this scenario of player elimination, I see Welbeck taking the exit.

It just doesn't work. It isn't even a case of we already have 4 strikers so we need to sell one, that isn't quite right.

What we have are 2 very good strikers (world class in my terms, maybe not yours) quality players who would start in almost every team. A very capable striker in Hernandez who would command a starting spot in all but the the top sides were he would compete pretty strongly. Lastly Welbeck, who is the probably the only one we can get away with having as 4th choice for the moment.

So he couldn't simply replace Welbeck as he or Hernandez are not going to be 4th choice strikers. He could replace Hernandez if he is willing to fight two quality players for a starting spot and maybe spend some time on the bench or replace one of the two stars.

I don't want to lose Hernandez, Rooney or RVP. Talking purely in computer game terms I wouldn't object to replacing Welbeck with him but moving swiftly back into the real world that doesn't work and is a bad move for a number of reasons (he wouldn't put up with being 4th choice and Welbeck is a local lad come through the academy)

Fergie's probably got a trick up his sleeve. If reports are to be believed, the only thing I can see happening is Welbeck becoming a winger or Rooney turning into a midfielder. I mean, what club [apart from Man City] have five top class strikers? There's not a lot around to be honest.

I believe Rooney could have a future playing in midfield when his days as a forward come to an end which are imminent now that he's 27. Fergie probably wants him to get use to playing in midfield sooner rather than later.

Fergie presumably feels that he hasn't got the sharpness needed to get away from defenders, so wants him to drop back into midfield so he can still influence the game rather than selling him when he does.

why cant he just sign a midfielder forget about another striker and turning rooney into a MF just sign a facking MF, does he think the world will come to an end if he does or something?

Kagawa and Lewandowski didn't really hit it off at BD. hope this doesn't rock the boat!

Fergie's got a striker fetish

we've got enough quality strikers at the club, the player at dortmund we should be going after is Ilkay Gundogan

Fergie buying a midfielder was actually the even that was to set the wheels of apocalypse going last week. He has been very strict the last few years to ensure no risk to the planet was caused.

This level of discipline has saved the world as we know it so he should be applauded for his behaviour.

I think its going to happen.

Think about it. SAF loves strikers, Lewa is around 24, £15 million reported is peanuts for a striker of his quality, SAF will not let this chance pass up.

I hope it doesnt happen but if it does, I would much rather see Rooney and Welbeck sold, and for us to keep RVP, Hernandez, Lewandowski and buy an actual midfielder with Kagawa playing behind the front 2.

But what will happen in reality is Welbeck will be converted into a winger and Rooney will be turned into a midfielder.

'If Danny Welbeck dosent make it, no one will'.

This were Fergie's words a few seasons ago. So I'd hate to think what kind I message this would send to the young players at the club. Welbeck has one very good season at the club before two more centre forwards are bought and he is shipped off?

Hope to God it isn't true.

I like Danny but do you think he has what it takes? Just another good English forward in the same bracket as players like Sturridge etc.

Players like that will probably excel at clubs like Villa, Liverpool, Swansea etc.

We have way too many quality forwards and I cant see Welbeck getting game time any time soon.
