Lets hope that you guys get the justice for the 96 and their families. Thatchers Government have a lot to answer for, and it would not surprise me one bit if there has been evidence held back.
Just look at the Bloody Sunday injustice..another Tory Government was also in power in 1972.
We will be having a party when Thatcher dies!!
Finally, this is the news all Liverpool fans have been waiting for, for 20+ years. I just hope the govenment do the right thing by not apealing against the release of these documents. This goes further than football, all the families of the victims deserve closure and have waited far to long, but now we will all find out the truth, and there are many people out there, mentioning no names, who will owe Liverpool football Club, the fans and most of all the families of those who died a huge and overdue apology . YNWA
The most damning documents will have been shredded long ago!
What sad, sorry muppet gave this one vote?
Shame on you.
bubblebhoy,
I admit I never agreed with everything that Maggie stood or, but I have to admire her for the fact she never took any crap.
She also told it like it was and didn't lie to the public like Blair.
We would never have gone to war with Iraq if Thatcher was PM, Bush wouldn't have conned her, I kid you not!
The Hillsborough disaster happened about a month before I was born, and I only know the basic facts, what is the evidence you think might have been held back?

Wow, what a complete pr!ck, I expect him to be banned Admins.
Anyway, not sure whether the truth will come out while a Tory government is in charge, I can see a lot of delays and appeals going on for months possibly years. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

Thanks Admin1, that's honestly the worst comment I've come across on here, I'd have been just as horrified if it had been about Utd. Some people eh?
I think it will be more interesting than useful.
I think it will be a very interesting insight into the Thatcher Govt's attitude towards football fans in general and Northern football fans especially.
The previous European Championships in Germany had seen a whole load of hooliganism, There were economic pressures, terrorism etc and Scargill was back in charge of the Mineworkers Union. It was a pretty volatile time and a particularly dodgy time for the Tories - they couldn't afford to look weak or be accused of presiding over a totally incompetent police force.
The North West has never been a Tory stronghold anyway, so I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if they were happy to sweep it under the carpet.
The only hope of justice is if it transpires that the cabinet was given a different version of events than the public, which I don't believe to be unlikely.
We'll see. Though I'm not a fan of the Tories in any way at all, I would be surprised if a supposedly "progressive" Cameron-led govt would attempt to surpress this. I imagine that whatever it contains will be viewed as the sins of an older and different party.
