O'Driscoll ...

Based on?

I'm a bit sick of people going on about SOD like he's pep guardiola. We got him from Crawley. He's managed small lower league clubs for over a decade. At any time a big club could have had him if they'd wanted him. Only Crawley wanted him last time he was out of work.

I'm not saying we should have sacked him when we did. But let's all keep a bit of perspective about how good he is.

Thing is, sutton, Forest will never find out how good ANY manager is. Already, McLose is probably just 2 more successive defeats away from the sack.

Shambolic.

Give it rest OOE.

We sacked a manager. It happens. Probably a bad decision but it there you go. We move on.

What are the latest Forest transfer rumours by the way? I've been out all weekend. I'm sure you've been trawling Forest websites the last few days.

The only Forest transfer rumour at the moment, sutton, is that you can't afford to buy anybody and have to sell first.

Roger Johnson from Wolves apparently is the latest one

No Sutton, you have sacked two managers in 5 months. One was never given a chance which is a bit ungrateful as he saved you from relegation, the other was doing a fair but not a great job and should have (or should that be "should of" in today's moron speak) been given more time. You know this, every Forest fan knows this. To deny this is just cognitive dissonance.

Spartacus, I agree with your opinion on SOD. However I was under no illusions that Cotterill was a stop-gap and was solely employed to preserve our championship status that season and keep us afloat to be bought in the summer. I see the SOD sacking as ungrateful, getting rid of Cotterill was inevitable and expected.

SOD should have been given time, or at least shouldn't have been sacked when he was. If never said different. But getting sacked is part of management. He ran out on Crawley and jumped in his mates grave to take the job. It's a cut throat business we move on. It happens

SOD should have been given to the end of the season (I’d have gave him till next Christmas)...simples. That's my opinion.

If Big Eck get's us into the play-offs...then fair enough. If he fails then the gamble didn’t work and Fawaz has no-one else to blame but himself and he will have to start all over again.
He changed the goals...3-5 year plan to promotion this season. I know you never believed this Sutton but as I said before...nothing is guaranteed.

The 3-5 year plan was never for promotion oddball ... it was to get established in the Prem! Which suggests to me promotion this season, or next season at the latest!

And I'm with Sutton on this one ... I can't understand why everybody is now suddenly claiming O'Driscoll is some kind of football deity. No he shouldn't have been sacked when he was (although I can wholly understand why he was), but our owners are desperate for Prem football, and abviously didn't think SOD was up to the task having seen us struggle for large parts fo the season. With hindsight too, a lot of the players that SOD brought in have not been good enough.

Hoons, I may agree that some of the players bought in aren't good enough but there's also some not performing to their full potential.

Are the bored of the board protests still going on at Derby?
They are level on points with us and talk like its all rosy!
Stop press! You have had 5 years of rubbish without a sniff of promotion, falling attendances and protests against the board.
Worry about yourselves should be the new year mantra.

"Don't kid yourlselves he wasn't the greatest manager out there - I honestly don't know hat all the fuss abot SOD is about he was mediocre at best"

That's rather unfair, in his Forest career he inspired the successful relegation fight then built a top 6 team in just 3 weeks. Inconsistency was his downfall, but injuries and suspensions didn't help. If he'd been given the whole season and the January window, I firmly believe we would have stepped it up.

Let's also remember that with Doncaster he built a team for peanuts that was better than our moneybags squad back in the L1 days.

strett:

We didn't have to rely on a hundred million bail-out/write-off for our club to survive. Having seen your club close to going under, you want your new sugar-daddies to throw more millions into the club.

Short memories - probably for the best. Here's a bit of advice - invest in Deep Heat. There'll be a lot of stiff necks in Nottingham for a few weeks until the next manager comes in.

I shall be doing one of my now famous Rough guides; the main theme being the acceptance of mediocrity in Derby.
I know you cannot wait. At least your poster of the year 666, has not gone back on his principles after a few reasonable results!

OEE - ND certainly ploughed a lot of money into the club. The last available accounts for 2011 should a debt of just over £74 million built up over 12/13 years. The figures for 2012 are not available so the £100 million is suppostion but may be correct. Strangely the DCFC accounts for 2011 GSE's 3rd(?) year in office show a debt of just over £42 million. Teapot and kettle come to mind.

It is really funny that 2 months ago there were protests against the board. How can they all accept mediocrity so easily in Derby? I know they are the worst team in history, but they should expect better than being above us, a club in turmoil apparently, by 1 goal!
666 is the only poster with principles!

Stan..so the muttons are in debt for £42million?
Looks like their little wonder lambs will all be going to the highest bidder then..especially as they are losing fans by the thousands.

That's right Redrebel. Just over £25 million repayable within 12 months and £17 million repayable over 12 months (including £15 million mortgage on the ground). So in spite of all the cost cutting they are racking up debt quicker than we ever did.
