I'm in Ethiopia currently, they have crazy fans and apparently they have requested 20,000 ticktes .

Ethiopia are making a rare appearance at the tournament so they will be really excited about it.

So Kenya didn't qualify?

I was born in Mombasa Mamba. Kenya have no hope. We qualified in 2004 but didn't get out of group stage

The most intriguing thing however is the potential for a surprise package. More likely IMO than in any other tournament. Zambia shocked us all last time. Even the Ethiopians will be hoping to slay a few giants I think.

Kenya have a few decent/good footballers coming though don't they?

Wanyama being one.

Oliech is a beast on FIFA.

Wanyama and Mariga. Oliech is fading out at Auxerre.

Kenyan football has been an shambles for decades. Only beginning to pick up with proper funds coming in from the commercialisation of the league. Its picking up well but I consider the last 20 or so years a missed opportunity to develop football in Kenya so we lag badly behind other nations. They are now trying to emulate the football power houses with a South African Company purchasing the rights to the League for what would be a puny amount elsewhere but its record breaking in Kenya.

Travelling there in April.

Kenya have no hope mostly due to reasons explained above plus a myriad of others.

I remember we beat Burkina Faso 3-0 with a sparkling display in our final group game in 2004 but it was after being thrashed in the first two games. Typical.

Did you know Wanyama and Mariga are brothers? Oliech has been great for Kenya over the years but recently the whole team has been performing badly and loosing alot of matches.

posted on 18/1/13

Yeah I knew Wanyama was the younger brother. Big shame MAriga was denied work permit for Man City. I want to see a Kenyan in the premier league

Ethiopia will shock a lot of people, they have good players, especially their man striker (Seladin). Also, if they win the cup, they will be awarded $100,000 each , that's massieve for an African nation.

Henry
I was gutted for him. He's a great professional and there is no telling the hope he's given young wanna be footballers in Kenya. He has shown that with hard work you can make it at the top. Also, England's work permit regulations are a terrible disgrace IMO.

True that's very massive but I am sure there's other countries whose players stand to gain more in the tournament. It's actually very common in Africa. Almost every team has been promised a tidy sum should they emerge triumphant.

I agree Seladin is quite dangerous. I"ve seen him a few times.

Where are Egypt this time? They usually win the Cup of Nations yet fail to qualify for the World Cup.

Ok, fair enough mate.
