I'm guessing people haven mentioned Xabi Alonso because its the best CM outside Spain/Barca.
Its between Toure and Vidal.
Pirlo of a few years ago would be undeniable though.
Not sure, top three has to be Carrick, Cleverley and Anderson. But what order?
Schweinsteiger is the German Milner.
The best is Yayaya
"Schweinsteiger is the German Milner."
Just stop watching football. My God.
^ agreed.
Anyway There are only a few players in that article I wouldn't swap Carrick for thinking about it.
Yaya and Carrick are by far the best CM is the league
Also think xabi alonso should of made the list

Oh good god.
Yaya yes, Carrick no, not by a long shot.
Stretty, the article is outside of Spain
Why is it that we either underrate players or overrate them in England? Carrick is a good player, not world class as he struggles under pressure.
Oh saw barca and forgot the Spain bit.
But yeah fair enough.
Didn't say Carrick was world class but he has been a star in Utd's midfield. I think Yaya is world class though

No a star would be putting the level of performance in that yaya toure does.
Carrick does the basics but doesn't have the all round game to be a star of the game.
Toure hasn't exactly been as good as he was last season when he was an absolute beast. If Carrick doesn't do his job well, then others cannot do their. His importance in the team is very underrated.
As he struggles under pressure
-------------------------
You must be referring to Rooney and not Carrick.
You should've just said Barcelona/Madrid OP because there are some very good midfielders playing for clubs outside the top 2 in Spain.
Ever Banega and Benat who's been doing very well for Betis are just a couple to mention. People also say that Koke for Atletico is very good but I haven't seen a lot of him.
Other names to mention would be Lars Bender and Milan Badelj who plays for Hamburg.
Pirlo is the best CM outside of Spain/Barca. Diaby (I know people will laugh at this) if it weren't for his terrible injury record would be recognised as one of the top box-to-players. Strength, dribbling, dominate in midfield.
My Top 5:
1. Pirlo
2. Schweinsteiger
3. Yaya Toure
4. Alonso
5. Vidal ( complete midfielder)
Just noticed my error with Alonso. So replace him with Gundogan.
I'd say probably Yaya Toure or Schweinsteiger, although Yaya is quite different to the other options.
