But 1 in 24 this season means he's not ready yet to lead an attack.
______________
He played most of those games out of position. Last season, when upfront with Rooney he scored 12 in 39, 1 goal every 3 games.
I don't think Sturridge is any better than Welbeck and he is commanding himself a fairly regular place at Liverpool. For Spurs Defoe is better at the moment, if he was a Spurs player he would certainly get a lot of football based on current and future ability...
Kaiser
In fairness to Welbeck - something his detractors purposely ignore - he's played in his best position on about 3 occasions this season and played 95% of his football on the wing. If given a run of games, a bit like last season, I have no doubts Welbeck would, again, do an excellent job of leading our line and score more goals than last. Unfortunately for him, arguably the best striker in the game has taken his place. He'll just have to wait.
I actually agree regarding Fletcher. He scores goals and deceptively has a lot of technical ability. His first touch is better than Rooney's, for example.
fair point
but he's still an unproven prospect
he'll get better
Welbeck is a much better centre forward than Sturridge. Sturridge is the better wing forward, though. They're both at clubs that suit the way they play which is good for both clubs and country.
Lambert is doing really well
And I guess there's debate as to whether Michu is an attacking mid or striker. I say AM, others say striker.
"Welbeck is a much better centre forward than Sturridge."
Sturridge has played centreforward less than Welbeck.
Kind of hard to judge that one.
This is my Top 10 strikers list this season:
Robin Van Persie
Luis Suarez
Edin Dzeko
Sergio Aguero
Wayne Rooney
Javier Hernandez
Demba Ba
Romelu Lukaku
Carlos Tevez
Defoe
Does anyone have the stats of how many games Welbeck has played up front? I think he has played 5-6 up top from my memory.
heranadez - yes
wellbeck - no (and never)
Nad by the way, on minutes played, Dzeko is the best striker in the PL.
Should have bought him last summer when he expressed 'unsettlement'.
Ideal MUFC player, wasted down the road.
