If RVP didn't have a torrid history with injuries he'd probably have much more than 175, but the amount of slating Rooney has got this season is over the top. He's still our most important player.
"RVP has played 382 games and scored 175 goals but majority of them have come in last few seasons."
is that for Arsenal and Us, didnt he sore 132 goals for them and currently has 22 for us so it would be 154 right.
Rvp has dealt with a boat load of injuries. How many of those games were full games, ones where he came off Injured or didn't last 90 mins?
True about his injuries but I could say same about Rooney, he gets a lot of injuries and always comes back looking rusty.
RVP has his stats from the bench or runs of 3/4 games at a time and was still scoring with a good record. If he'd stayed fit for his career he'd probably be scoring a goal every 1.5 games or something overall.
RVP record and Rooneys came from wiki
By the way I'm not saying either is better I'm highlighting Rooney is better than he's given credit for.
I dont know how they came up with 175 though
That said Rooney is a very good goal scorer, I just think RVP could possibly be the best in the world right now
Also with all due respect to arsenal can you say that rvp has had the luxury of playing in a top team or even a settled one.
Rooney has never had the injury history of RVP
I hate Rooney, absolutely despise the man, but him and RVP probably make up one of the best strike duos in the world.
Although the concept of strike duo has petered out in recent years.
Dave he played in holland before pal
Contrary to popular belief, Rooney is the better finisher and Van Persie is the better footballer.
For example, if I had to pick one of them to sink a 1 vs 1 it's Wayne. If I want one to pluck a ball out of the sky and do something exquisite on the ball then it's Robin.
That said, they're both brilliant strikers and as the stats show, there's little between them in terms of goals to games.
RVP is definitely the best striker in Europe right now, Rooney is in the top 10 category though.
"Rooneys goal scoring ability is seriously underrated in my opinion."
I think both strikers defending (espeically from Set pieces) is more underated
It's not a Rooney vs RVP argument
Just wanted to praise Rooney
VCD sorry I thought you just meant since hes been in England
I'd agree with Kagawa...the difference is Rooney is a slighty better finisher than Rooney but RVP is a considerably better footballer. Considering RVP doesn't really score the easy ones his record is phenomenal
Maybe the article title suggest I'm saying Rooney is better but that wasn't my aim.
Just saying his record is great for us, a goal every other game.
VCD
Fair one. I honestly think Rooney's the most improved finisher in the game. It's why I loathe to see him messing about on the half way line. Give him the ball in the box and odds on he'll put the ball
I do appreciate his work rate, by the way, I just prefer to see him up top.
Kagawa I agree I hate it when Rooney is playing really deep, needs to be in and around the box always.
But he does really help us defend sometimes so double edged sword.
Rvp is better than Rooney as both player and striker.
He just oozes so much class.
Rooney would be a hell of a lot better if he wernt in our half half the game.
Rooney has to help in midfield otherwise we get overrun.
If we had a more solid midfield he wouldn't have too, that's my opinion.
