I know he has spent much and we have won stuff but I'll like us to be run smoothly and rationally like other big European clubs, why can't we keep a manager in place for at least 3 year, why force managers to work with Torres and fire them when they have a bad run of games or if they drop him and lose, why is he disrespecting our club legends?...anyway I like his generosity but he should take things easy, I hope he doesn't run/ruin his family the way he is runnng our club...

This Is without doubt 'Mr.Capello'
Lets see... pre Roman era.. One solitary league win, though you did win the The second division twice in the eighties.
During the Roman era.. Should I go on?
Talk about ungrateful and utterly deluded!
"Talk about ungrateful and utterly deluded!"
Correct assessment not to mention a ruinous attitude...
The ungrateful comments make me laugh....Do people actually think he bought Chelsea as a gift to the fans?
The people that think that are the utterly deluded ones.
There are some that do not feel Roman is right for the club but that does not mean we all feel that way.
Mistakes will be made, he has been in football for ten years, he took up football later in life than most and lets face it, put most of us that have lived and loved football all of our lives in charge of a club and the chances are we would screw up just about any club you care to name.
I judge Roman by what I know as a fan of football, what I see at other clubs and how our previous owners have been when in charge. (First one Mears, bankrupted club, sold gorund rights off to Marler estates kicking off the save the bridge buckets, 2nd Bates, done a lot of good things for the club but was never popular with the fans, very outpoken, sacked popular legends from the club, Gullitt, Vialli, caused star players to leave, changed badg, did win a few things and set us up for success though)
Far as I am concerned I do not agree with every decision that Roman makes, nor do I feel I have to but I do feel he has the clubs best interests at heart and is taken us forward, never promised an easy ride, never expected one either.

That's a fair minded post and thank you for not labeling those who are very unhappy with Roman (like myself) as deluded or ungrateful.

"I'm wound up so I'm going to accuse the other guy of not being a real supporter"
Cute.
I don't think that all things considered that Roman Abramovich has anything else but what he considers to be the best interests of this Club at heart. You don't spend the sort of money that he has in trying to put us at the very top of Football's top table if you don't care.
However there are some very stark lessons that are screaming out to be learned about the way that this Club is conducting itself currently and he needs to take on board, and the way that we move forward from here. It was inevitable that given our track record with Managers that it would reach a point where the Manager that we currently covet more than any other (although personally I was indifferent about him) would snub us, and he may not now be the last to do so.
One issue is that he seriously needs to review (and cull if it is found to be necessary) the personnel that he has installed at the top end of our Club. For years it would seem that the first team coach here is the scapegoat for any perceived failings that we as a Club have and yet above him there are individuals that are presiding over PR embarrassment and failure on a far greater scale than any manager has heaped on us and yet no-one's head appears to roll. There are also individuals in the woodwork that we as fans (rightly or wrongly) look at with wonderment as to what does that particular individual actually know, to have achieved a position like that? What do they actually bring to the party apart from what looks from the outside like mismanagement and incompetence?
You don't get to be as rich as RA without being extremely shrewd and extremely ruthless. Those 2 qualities should now given full reign to enable him to find himself a new team that will in future avoid some of the icebergs that we as a Club insist on crashing into.
Having said all that the problems that we are currently experiencing are nothing compared to the problems that us older fans remember in the past. I hope that the lessons can be learned and that will unify us all again and make everyone (including the man himself) happy.
Brummie, off topic, you going Saturday? If so do you fancy a gargle?
69, I strongly believe that Roman has not axed any member of the board simply because he doesn't listen to them and they too have stopped offering sound advice that will ultimately be ignored, I read somewhere that Emanalo warned Roman that the fans will not take to Rafa but Roman bluntly ignored his warning and when Torres started scoring Roman was beaming with smiles and happy with himself, now the cookie has crumbled and he has no one to blame but himself.
I have nothing against Roman, infact I like him but for heavens sake he should count his losses and move, his infatuation with Torres is destroying this club and making us all look stupid. You need to hear the remarks my colleagues (who support other clubs) make when they see Torres' name as first on the team sheet while Ba is on the bench. If we continue like this we will ruin Ba and eventually sell him off like Sturridge. This article is not about torres but I hold him responsible for Ray, Carlo, Avb, Rdm and Benitez dismissals.
At the moment the next game I'm going to is the Sparta game on the 21st.
My mate from the Navy has a son aged ten - when he was 5 he announced to his dad (a Liverpool fan) that he was going to be a Chelsea Fan because "Robbie supports Liverpool"!!
I promised him then that I'd take him to a game one day - a promise he's never forgotten and the Prague game will be the first time I've had a chance to take him, due to being at Sea & Afghanistan all the time.
Need to get him indoctrinated into the match day atmoshere and wearing the famous Blue shirt!
"Robbie supports Chelsea"!

Sideshow I agree with you that he surrounds himself with lackies and "Yes" men and their Toadyism is something to be despised, but one more problem that the above responses to my statement go to highlight is just how poor the Club communicates with it's own supporters these days in that you have one supporter (Dr Solo) who is under the impression that Emanalo warned RA that the fans would not take to Rafa and on the other hand yourself, who has heard that Emanalo actually suggested Benitez and then you have me in the middle that likes to think I know a great deal about our Club but I have no idea which of the opposites that you both describe is actually correct.
This to me is another problem with a Club that is shrouded in rumour and secrecy. In my humble opinion that is something else that needs to change, to re-engage the supporters again.
Brummie good stuff mate. Bring on the next generation of supporters.
FFS he's better than Manus owners, Arsenal's owners, Liverpool's previous two owners, Spurs owner, Everton's owner, Villa's owner, City's former owner, Pompey's owner when they were a club, Leed's owner when they were a premiership club, and 99% of what's left would happily swap owners with you.
Ungrateful, spoilt children.
Ungrateful, spoilt children.

I followed this Club all over the country for years when we were in the second division and rubbish, so there's nothing you can teach me about bad owners, cos I've seen more of them than you have. Yes you're right that Roman Abramovich is better than some of the owners above that you mention but that doesn't mean that our Club behaves in the proper way all the time.
OK fair dos
maybe I was a little harsh and the article writer a little extreme.
Can we settle in the middle?
How about " for the 6-9 month stretches where we don't win league titles, FA Cups, or the Champions League, it can be quite frustrating understanding Roman's decisions."
