It is a farce that rickie lambert isn't called up, was brilliant last year in the championship and is ripping up the premier league this year. What has welbeck done?

It's political. You play for ManUtd no matter how shît you are you'll get picked. Just not Manu but any top 4/5 team. Welbeck is just another gervinho

As a United fan I agree, he shouldn't be in the team unless he is there simply for his link-up play, which at the moment is his biggest asset. Lambert should be in the team without a shadow of a doubt, but then it's the same old from the Managers. They play players based on their clubs and that doesn't just include United. I really thought Capello would be different!

To Hodgeson's credit he given a few people a chance and has at least tried to deviate from what we're used to seeing. Possibly not in this friendly, but in previous ones we've seen a lot of youth, and debuts for players from 'lower' clubs.

Welbeck has scored a fair few for England.

Don't see anything wrong with it. Welbeck has done well for England and his inclusion is not a problem

Oh hang on,....it's henrykant! Should have known with the stupid article.

Lambert has been good and if he was 22/23 he would most likely be in the squad but he is 30 years old. Remember how everone was saying we need to build for the future and not play all these old players. How would bringing in a uncapped 30 year old into the England squad benifit us in the long term.

I was going to post a comment taking the pi55 out of the England team but then I remember I'm Scottish.

If you don't want Welbeck, we'll take him. I'd rather have present day Denis Law up front for Scotland than Kenny Miller.

Englands strike force is a joke in general.
