So a new song idea to the tune of the Department S post-punk classic: "Is Glick There?"

Jorvik, I don't disagree I just think if you are going to play without a target man as such then they need a trick or at least the skill to control the ball and to be able to find space and pass a ball. Raw pace with no end product is not the best way to go. I would rather see slower players make better use of the ball and if need be take more touches to finally open up defences with more chance of a decent end product.
At present we have no target man and no one with pace and skill , so we have neither.
We have one pre season game to go and we have certainly not found a player in our current squad we can look at and expect them to fire the goals to give us platform for the new season and thats against second division and first div teams .
At the end of last season we needed 2 championship quality strikers a midfield general a left back , right back and a centre half .
We have signed a ch .

There's some gems out there TEG, lurking in the mists of time!

How about 7teen by The Regents, another beauty from the same era.

Some very good points made, DesiCafu about the economic situation and the impact of the PL on things, which has an effect on loans (clubs have to name 25 players, I think? This is how we ended up getting Luke Moore for instance).

I thought SDS made a very good point about our midfield, too.

I think we've done well to add to the squad, but then it was down to its bare bones - however I think we have failed to add in the key areas which could help make the team more solid such as an experienced central midfielder to offer protection to our defence as well as a real threat up front, someone who has a good goal-scoring record. Two vital areas I feel we are still lacking. We have enough in defence, possibly loan cover across the back, keepers, centre halves (when fit), attacking players, but midfield is a concern in an area where we have young players.
