Think deano and the Board are getting fed up with a few individuals tweeting criticism at them...including the slagging off of the latest 'Town familiy' initiative...

Around where I sit, the mood was different to that in your location. One guy who is a season ticket holder, has been a supporter since Moby Richard was a sardine, and makes a round trip of some 80 miles to watch home games was completely underwhelmed, and is seriously thinking of going to watch a lower division team located much nearer to his abode. Another guy who sometimes gets very agitated about refereeing decisions that go against the home team, was very critical of Town's inability to do the simple things. His daughter, wearing her HTFC gloves, was so enthralled by the game that she spent most of the time on her mobile phone. A 30 something season ticket holder who coaches under-tens teams was nonplussed by the way Town make a simple game look difficult. He is generally very critical of the standard of shooting. A teenager who I haven’t seen before gave an excellent impression of an inanimate object, huddled up inside his hoody. A middle-aged season ticket holder never uttered a syllable, but then he is like that every game. As for my grandson and the three mates who came along yesterday… they were seriously bored, and were generally more interested in things taking place off the pitch.

When I got to the bus stop, three regulars… father, son, and girlfriend… from my part of the world... arrived. The father’s first words to me were… “Well, I suppose it’s a point!" The son was less than impressed, but then he is a Rugby League fan (Bradford Bulls actually) The girl hardly ever speaks about anything. There was a guy at the bus stop, who I have never seen before, who thought Town played well. I told him that I didn’t think one effort on goal over 90+ minutes equated to playing well. I see that the BBC don’t even acknowledge that effort.

Of course, that’s only a sample, but I am telling it like it is.

.. think back to life before Dean Hoyle - that's all I'll say.

in other words, just shut up, pay up and be grateful ??

I saw and spoke to some very happy people after the final whistle, delighted to have seen 100% effort. Now i'd say that's the very least you should expect but they were right and i've enjoyed the last 2 home games more than any of the others this season.

Keith Southern summed up football fans perfectly earlier in the season when talking about Blackpool, a club he clearly has feelings for. His memory of the supporters were after seeing a club ride a wave all the way to the Premier League, the were drawing nil nil and were booed off the pitch. No matter what you do, they will still moan, he said "that's just football"

I love football, can't get enough of it but sometimes i'm embarrassed to admit it.

Hurly-brûlée…

“It saddens me (just a tad as I know he can be mischievous) that Uncle D doesn't appear to buy or factor this into his post match comments.”

That could be because I used to work in public relations.

See… http://youtu.be/KeVca9MwDX8

Tim Robbins plays Ebby Calvin ‘Nuke’ LaLoosh the rookie pitcher with the “million dollar arm and the ten cent head.” Kevin Costner is the veteran, minor-league catcher assigned to look after him.

‘Bull Durham’ is one of my favourite films.

I have absolutely nothing against Mark Lillis. I wish the guy all the very best. I would keep him as manager, for the rest of the season, and of course, hope that he can save the slowly sinking ship.

However, I prefer to rely on my own judgement, and I don’t do anything purely to be mischievous.

You may have noticed recently that despite what it states on the packet, quite a number of beefburgers don't actually contain any beef.

You can fool some of the people etc.

Brûlée Rectory…

Here are some comments from coach Paul Anderson, after the Giants’ 34-6 win over London Broncos…

"We were just about or slightly below average and, frankly, some of our play was pathetic.”

"The way this team is set up is to be direct. But for long periods we decided to play the touchline, not the try line.”

"We've got a group of disappointed people in the dressing room after a 34-6 win, which shows where we're at."

Can you spot the difference?

Of course I am pleased that the Giants won, but I think that’s a very honest assessment of the game today. However, it was still much better to watch than Saturday’s iffy fare.

My grandson is not keen enough on rugby league to attend matches, but he does keep an eye on the Giants’ results.

I remember Geoff Twentyman Snr., but I don’t recall seeing him play. Great names from the past…Redfern Froggatt, Albert Cheesebrough, Len Badger, Ambrose Fogarty, Eddie Clamp… etc.

'Spanky' Dyson ??

Used to watch Fartown (at fartown) ...in fact in those early days they played at home on the same day as Town, the score being shown on Towns half time scoreboard.

No 'health and safety' in those days, crowds packed onto the open terrace...proper entertainment.. Now Bradford City are wearing the old fartown colours I get full of nostalgia.

No crowd segregation, no trouble, no swearing, no stewards....people knew how to behave themselves in those days...good cheap working class entertainment...

where did it all go wrong ?

My old buddy said "Spanky" was a great player,,,, Young lad who was killed fighting in Afghanistan from up my way was his grandson,,,,,,,,,,,,, Giants Faiumu was knocked out for a good five minutes during the game yesterday before being helped off the field,,, He never returned, Happen he wont miss a few games and will probably be available for selection next week,,, Just saying.

Just heard Radio saying Luke (someone or other) will NEVER play for The Giants Again .. Whats that all about .. ? Someone bin a naughty boy ..

Ye even I remember Frank (Spanky) Dyson as well as Billy Boston & Vincent Karalius .. Names & Players to conjure with ..

I dont do tweets,,, I dont do following ? Surely Hoyle would have been better off starting out playing the kids and utilising the academy when he first came in, rather than spending big ? Should have kept the wages sensible too.

I don't do tweets though tbh I never pass up the sniff of a young tw-t if chance comes my way .. ..

Truth be .. If as Lillis has shown he can set teams up to produce 'Clean Sheets' against the creme of our division then given TWO Decent (and I mean decent) Strike Area Loan players (as Dean appeared to be promising last week) then its perfectly possible
him and his mate Eyre could send us on a right run..

Just saying like .. ..

Bootsie, what boxes to Jones tick for you? Please tell me a bit more about his management style and why you think he'd be so well suited to our little club?

"Little Club" You Call us eh Cas .. how on earth do you deduce that .. ? .. No doubts by the same flawed process in which you worked out last week that Di Canio was to be our manager ..

I see this week you again cockily post that "Robbins has got the job" .. pray tell us all more .. add a little meat to the bone ..

You ask me about Graeme Jones Mgmt style which i've no idea about and indeed was the very reason why I ASKED in the article body what others may know about it .. You can be such a numpty at times~

However a perfectly valid question you do ask is:- What boxes does Jones tick for me & I'm more than happy to answer that for you ..

He's relatively Young .. Seems not to be/get above his station .. He's played the game .. He's gotten a good 4 years or more under
his belt at Assistant Manager Level and been chased by such tasty football playing clubs a la Swansea ..

He also seems eager to continue his learning curve at Wigan who know how to punch above their weight in lofty divisions though with relatively minimal player expend .. .. Yeah I reckon he'd be just the sort of guy (assuming experienced NAME managers are out of the frame) that would fit into the Dean Mould & Template & why a Big Effort ought to be made to tempt him into Full Management ..

As with Grayson before him I'd be more than happy to get behind him for a few months BUT Hey if as YOU SAY ..

"Robbins HAS GOT THE JOB" and more importantly ~ Have got the Proof to back it up ..

Lets be avving it .. ? ? ?

Truth is its more likely to be just another of your many many punts me'thinks Cas but hey put enough forward and hopefully your gonna get one right soon .. .. ..

posted on 11/2/13

Haha, I don't make "punts". I don't think I ever said Di Canio had the job, just that he was our first choice - and he happens to be the man who refused to interview, if you've seen the quotes coming out of Saturday's Q&A.

However, I'll go one further this time and say MARK ROBINS HAS BEEN OFFERED THE JOB. He might turn it down, but he's been offered the job, and given that he's spoken to the club on 2 occasions I'd say he must be at least half interested.

As for Jones, I also would have liked him, but it's impossible to know if he'd tick any boxes or be the right man, because all we know about him is that he's assistant manager at Wigan. Look no further than Brian Kidd for an example of a brilliant assistant but terrible manager. It would have been a massive gamble, if an exciting one.
