Fair enough mate but is the team I proposed really that weak? It's not like i'm saying he should play the kids but this team rests Carrick, Cleverley, RVP, Vidic and Rio while still playing some big names who can do a job.
It's not like we're playing Chelsea away or something. Everton are decent but hardly worth all this scaremongering from the fans. They very nearly lost to the worst Villa side i've ever seen last week.
I dont agree either. It will be a strong team today.
We might see only Carrick and RVP rested I think.
Fergie knows today could effectively win the title
Still some way to go but 12 points !!!
Can't do anything other than play best side today, no gambling.
Madrid game is not important at the moment.
This is what Sir Alex said...

So my team may even be stronger than the one he puts out.
Trust in our squad. We have 22 players who can all be relied on.
PL is most important, and today it can be secured. Can`t see any reason to waste the opportunity. A bit here, and another bit there, might lose the whole caboodle. Play strength in both games... go for it!The games after Madrid are a long way off an of an easier ilk. Time to rest the lads at that time, once we have picked up the marbles!
I love you Rooneysmiles. Your posts are crazy but I get the gist
Can't see Evans playing today, has to be Vidic if fellaini is fit
I do trust in our squad Rob but no need for wholesale changes!
Ferguson doesnt always tell the truth in regards to team selection or players being unfit.

Fair point but can Vidic play twice in 4 days at this stage of his recovery?
There's no doubt (unless the boss wasn't going to play Vidic in Madrid) that Wednesday is the more important game for him to play.
Holy fack Rob, can't believe I agree with you
today is the priority IMO we have to win the PL this year and we have to take advantage of city's slip up
Don't agree like others above. I honestly can't see us winning the CL this season. And that's even with blinkered red glasses on.
We could easily get knocked out vs Madrid. Most bookies have us as the underdogs. Then If we met Barca at any stage, they would beat us. They have our number at the moment. I wouldn't fancy us against Bayern at the moment either.
Let's get our hands on Title number 20 and FA cup number 12.
I think when we have a better midfield to choose from and better wingers we could mount a serious challenge on the CL again.
Diggler
Yeah, to be honest anything can happen but I would not be surprised to see a complete 11 changes today.
And also wouldn't be surprised if we won with those 11 changes.
Surely then the fans would have to bow down to Sir Alex and accept that he knows best!
Although I actually think you're right for once I don't think it should be the case. Fergie should absolutely make sure of this championship and winning today would go a long way towards securing that.

Hey, i'm with you in the sense that I think we'll get battered by someone in the CL (probably even Real on Wednesday) but there's no way the boss is going to believe that and go there with a slightly more tired team than had he rested them today.
He was on TV complaining about having to play on Sunday which is even more likely that he'll rest the bigger names so close to the game.

With the quick and tricky players Madrid have if I was going to drop him for a game it would be madrid rather than today.
I'd be happy to see RVP on the bench today, to be honest.
And I'd probably take a draw.
TK65
Fair enough. I personally think we'll go for the backs to the wall defensive option so Vidic will be needed massively but yeah, if we are to press them then Evans might be the better option against Real
I can't believ how many of our fans are undermining the importance of the CL.
Yes we don't have much of a chance winning it there are far superior teams out there but the financial rewards for getting through 1 round of the cl are too much to ignore.
If our players can't play 2 games in 4 days then they should get their fitness checked.
Only Rafael and Evra have been overpresent right from day 1 and they are generally regarded as our fittest players in terms of running around for 90 minutes.
take a draw at home never jalisco, we're man utd we should be winning our home games
For once Rob, I agree with you. I wouldn't say 'priority', but I'm sure the team selection will say all we need to know about Fergies ambitions.
I get the feeling many on here suggesting the CL doesn't matter as much as the PL, are simply trying to soften the blow if we do go out to Madrid. The CL is as important to the gaffer and players, possibly more so, and they will believe they should be challenging for both honours.
Rob
A midfield consisting of Carrick/Cleverley/Anderson coupled with the way our wingers are playing this season isn't going to bring us CL success.

I reckon our team of rested players can beat Everton.
Of the team I proposed in the OP, who is the weak link?
