Look Like Modric, can you imagine the reaction if Ade had of taken his shirt off and thrown it? There would be hate banners everywhere, probably protests to get him out! Although it was frustration on Ghaly's part, the fact that he threw his Spurs shirt of all things, was the key thing that insulted fans. He could have done anything else - kick a bottle of water, kicked an advertising board, anything else, and I don't think he wouldn't have got the same heated response.

As for Ade, I still don't get the hatred for him. He's only signed for us a few months but already he seems like Spurs enemy number 1 for a number of fans. Yes he's not been on top form lately, yes he made a late decision to go to the ACoN (which wouldnt have made any difference to our plans whether the decision was early or late as the decision was made before the January transfer window), but other than that I think he is a very good player who just needs to find his feet again.

I'm sticking by Adebayor and I hope he proves all his critics wrong

Alot of it is to do with the fact he was Arsenal

Same with AVB, the older fans and idiotic fans hold a grudge

Thuddey, when it comes to the Arsenal and Chelsea thing, only idiotic fans will hold a stupid grudge mate I think the same is with Gallas, it's that connection with those clubs that some cannot let go off.

G&S,

Funny but Keane did similar and was forgiven.

==================

My thoughts exactly - and pretty much sums up this entire article.

Defoe scores 1 in his last 10 = still a fans favourite.

Ade has a patch of poor form = get him out, sell him, he's a lazy this & that .

Ghaly gave up his front teeth for the shirt prior to that incident.

Thudded....................I am one of the older fans & I have probably been Ade's biggest supporter on here.

He brings a different dimension to our game, his movement ff the ball often opens up other areas for other players, yet fans do not look at this. They just judge him entirely on a) If he doesn't score, he is rubbish. b) if he des score, he is still rubbish because he doesn't run around more. c) He is not interested now he has a contract, because it was the same at Arsenal (incorrect) and at City.
d) He is ex Arsenal................(although some will deny this)

My approach is wait and judge him at the end of the season.................

I also agree that if he was late back then he should be fined! <okay>

Admittedly he shouldnt have been late but how many English players would get knocked out of a tournament on Monday, fly back and play a competive match on the Saturday?

just about all of them i'd say.....this has nothing to do with his ability...its his behaviour.....

i'd be giving the likes of bale just as much grief if he acted like he can just swan around and make it up as he goes along....

If Ade missed an important match because his missus was giving birth he'd get slated for poor attitude.

With Bale it was just a case of "Ahh its nice to see a player get his priorities in order".

Chicken...............Agree with you, Bale could easily have played that day & had plenty of time to get to the birth of his baby!

posted on 11/2/13

Plus he could have made all the difference against Chelsea that day!

completely different....

if he's told to report back at a set time and doesn't...he'd better have a damn good excuse....like...my mrs went into labour...

I'm not saying Bale should have done this, or should have done that - i agree that the birth of his child was far more important to him than a Spurs football match.

Its just that if Ade had done something on similar grounds, he would have got articles written about him about how much of a mercenary he is etc etc.

He's a good player & i for one am grateful to have a player like him in our squad/team.

Chicken, like you I do not have a problem with a player wanting to be at the birth of a child, but as you say if it had been Ade, a lot of our fans would have really given him stick.
I think they might be surprise if they started supporting him he might just deliver. I rate him as a player.

i can tell you now....

whatever player had facked the club/gaffer about like that...they wld get heat from me...

the fact its ade is either here nor there for me....

I'm not sure any other player would have got this degree of "heat" over something quite trivial when you actually put it into context. Just a few hours late is hardly doing an Odemwingie is it?

Maybe it deserves a mention on here but the reaction is way OTT under the circumstances.

He was available for Saturday, AVB chose to bench him, he came on, made a difference, put a shift in, had a hand in the winning goal and is now available for selection moving forward.

If he takes his fine on the chin, then thats good enough for me.

posted on 11/2/13

depends on who's right about how late he was...and i'm hardly giving him heat...

just saying its poor behaviour....we all cld be wrong...but he just does not help himself with his demeanour......like i say...it cld just be the way he is...

but he does strut around like he don't give a fack....

thats why defoe don't get the heat...as...scoring or not...he looks like he giving it his all....ade often...does not.

Thats just the way some players are. Not judging on ability but Berbatov is the same, Michu, Pav etc. they all have lazy (or laid back) statures. It doesn't mean they care less than the headless chicken type.

posted on 11/2/13

maybe so...

but his actions were wrong...END OFF.

Wrong? Yes, agreed.

Should he be getting the amount of backlash because of it? Not in my opinion.

Would any other player be getting the same had they done the same? I doubt it.

maybe not...but he's got history...maybe not with us...but history none the less...

rightly or wrongly...that sheeet follows you around....
