Do you not think Vidic can play?

posted on 11/2/13

although I think we would be better offensively with Nani (or Valencia) I agree that Welbeck offers amazing work rate which helps both defensively and harrassing the def's and GK.

I would think Welbeck will play

I would start with a midfield 3. Carrick and Clevs will have a near impossible task containing Alonso and Ozil if they get no help.

De Gea
Rafael Rio Vidic Evra
Jones
Carrick Cleverley
Rooney RvP Kagawa

Amos, Evans, Anderson, Giggs, Nani, Young and Hernandez on the bench.

---------------

I think it is vital Vidic plays, in the games he has played since being back we have looked much more solid at the back.

I guess 2 big games in 4 days might be a bit too much for a 31-32 yr old coming after a long long injury.

Doesn't Welbeck usually play on the left wing rather than the right wing??

I love Evans, but Vidic to surely start over him? Otherwise, I like your team OP, very similar to my thoughts. However, I am expecting us to be lined more defensively, so a few personnel changes.

I have a feeling you guys might breeze past this Madrid side over two legs. Watched them a lot this season and they just haven't got their squad balance right, too many individuals playing for themselves it seems.

That being said, Ronaldo has been truly unplayable at times, so if he turns it on he could make up the difference.

Chris

This is all they have to play for. They will be up for it!

They do indeed, and Mourinho definitely doesn't want to leave Real without winning the CL.

I might turn out wrong, but I just think you'll have a little too much for them.

Rio and Vidic are still two of the best deep-line defenders in the world. Considering we will probably spend a lot of the match sitting back, they will both play, i'm pretty sure of that.

personally that team would be horrible against madrid

De Gea
Rafael Vidic Evans/Rio Evra
Valencia Cleverley Carrick Nani
Rooney
RVP

thats how i would set up and thats how i hope SAF sets up, it worked against City/Chelsea, aguably without Nani there but still - we had no Vidic either!

Unarguably the 2 biggest clubs in the world.

------------------------

I'd argue that.

Barcelona are richer than you, have won more league titles than you, more European Cups, have a bigger stadium than you.

I'd even argue that Bayern Munich are a bigger club, given that they have more league titles and more European Cups. There's even a case for AC Milan as they've won the European Cup 7 times.

Its not unarguable at all .

Do you lot think AF will put someone on Ronaldo or Ozil to be man marked? Even Xabi Alonso as that's where their attacks start. I remember AF putting Park on Pirlo at OT a few seasons ago.

posted on 11/2/13

Xabi Alonso will be man marked, possibly by Rooney or even Welbeck.

Barcelona are in debt

If we go '4-4-2' then you'd expect Rooney to man mark Alonso whenever Madrid are in possession of the ball, so it wouldn't really be a 4-4-2.
