My opinion about Luiz is simple. Play him in central midfield and keep him there.
We look a much more potent and creative threat with Luiz in midfield.
You only have to look at our win rate with Luiz in midfield. We win far more games when Luiz plays in midfield.
I also think tht the Lampard-Luiz central midfield partnership works well and is our best midfield comb.
Certainly better than Lampard-Ramires or Lampard-Mikel.
I like Luiz in both midfield and defence. I agree that he has the potential to be a world class CB and that should be his long term position for us. But with little depth at the moment it is probably sensible to use Luiz in midfield, at least on occasion.
Luiz to me is an amazing footballer. He is extremely talented, and I seriously think he can become a world class deeplying midfielder or a world class CB.
He is closer to being a world class CB, the only thing he has to cut out is the silly decisions he makes and the lapse of concentrations he has from time to time. He has got excellent tackling ability, great anticipation and does not get bullied in the air.
In midfield the more and more I watch him the more I think he also can achieve greatness in that position. Not just the Wigan game, but in previous games I have seen him hit beautiful balls forward for the attack or one of the three AM's to run on to. Yes from time to time he gets carried away and some of his balls go wayward(same thing with his shooting), but his reading of the game is fantastic and just shows that he has a brilliant footballing game. I'm convinced if we play him in Midfield and he starts training there, we can turn him into a world class player there.
But we have to decide where we want him to develop, I would hate to see him wast 2-3 seasons of his career deciding if he is suited to CB or CM and then in the end he has wasted too much time to full-fill his potential in one of those positions.
I think against the very best you have to have specialists. I am sure Luiz could do well in most games from midfield like Vermaelen can play at left back. I would not want him playing there if possible v Bayern Munich though because at that level you are likely to get found out if it is not your usual position.
Another player we are failing to coach unfortunately!

I agree.
The time to keep Luiz in midfield is now.
Let him develop and learn as a central midfielder. He appears to be learning very quickly which is always a sign that he is very well suited to playing there.
I think he has the potential to become one of the best central midfielders in world football.
I don´t think he will ever be a world class centre back though.

He's currently a better CB than Cahill IMO
So I'd rather have Ivanovic-Luiz at CB with other midfield options than Ivanovic-Cahill with Luiz in midfield

I disagree. Cahill is the more solid CB of the two in my opinion.
Luiz is the better player of the two which is why he is better suited to midfield.

Get him out of midfield as soon as possible (start of next season) imo
Cahill has been so shaky. Luiz was ripped apart for similar performances during a bad run.
Always said he looked more suited to midfield and my spirits are lifted immediately when I see him being played there. He has great vision and is never afraid to try a few long forward passes even if most of them do not come off. I know he also gets knocked sometimes for having so many attempts at goal from stupid positions but I like to see it personally.
It is the one and only thing that I can give Rafa credit for, so pleeeeeease do not take that away from me.
Luiz and Lamps as the pair everytime for me
His ridiculously ambitious shooting really annoys me
That's probably the worst part of him in midfield
The best part is his high energy off the ball pressing which leads to lots of tackles and interceptions
His passing is still pretty inconsistent for me
