na i dont think we have that many fans but we may have that many followers though which is completely different

posted on 18/2/13

of course we dont have 10% of the worlds population supporting us, its probably something like a third of that at the very most

they have been a bit naughty on the title of the article. the poll was to find out how many followers utd had and was worded as such, it was a research tool for their recent american shar issue.

the media have tried to make out it was a poll of utd fans, totally different thing imo

That won't stop the detractors though. Once a hater, always a hater.

I cant stand it how they have to anounce the attendance of every home game, why?

Just been confirmed by Kantar, that there are 695,000,001 of those globally.

If 10% of the world follow united, how can most of them come from manchester. The real question is how much of Manchester supports United.

The real question is how much of Manchester supports United.

Personally in my opinion, the city of Manchester is split 50/50 but when GM is brought into the equation then it's United dominated. Salford, Bury, Rochdale, Wigan etc have quite a big United following

And how with that many fans you don't always sell out.

And before you all go off frothing, you don't!

Any way you spin it, talk about city if it makes you feel better, have a pop!

It doesn't change that fact.

I don't really know abt the figure...but what i do know is that Manchester United is the most followed club/team in the world across all sports

the etihad is almost half the size of OT and isn't always a sell out. why is that??

posted on 18/2/13

OT doesn't sell out mostly during the cup games, if its the CL and the PL it's always full to the brim

I think some of the chinese fans only come to a few games a season. shocking I know.

Of the 659 million figure, Kantar says roughly half (325 million) live in the Asia Pacific region, 173 million in the Middle East and Africa, 90 million in Europe and 71 million in the Americas.

"I would back my figures and argue [they are accurate] to within a 1% margin of error," says Kantar director Richard Brinkman.

"We work for a number of the largest companies around the world… it's in our interest to use our knowledge to produce an accurate figure, not the biggest figure. We need to have more credibility than that."

why would they fix Uniteds figure?

RBW if the opponent was City/Chelsea/Arsenal etc I would bet my left arm the game would be sold out tonight

how many clubs sell-out for a run of the mill PL or cup game? i'm willing to bet nobody

posted on 18/2/13

if united sold cheap tickets for cup games like city do (fair play) then I would guarantee a sell out tonight.

But thats a different story.

without doubt. But its Reading. And its Monday.

The song goes "you only came to see United" and that has always been true for United fans at OT in the past. But in recent seasons Fergie has given up trying to entertain in these type of games and opts for grinding out a result with minimum effort.

Seems that fans and players alike can only get up for the big games these days.
