We do not have a lot of control if an ad decides to install a cookie for tracking purposes, but as I understand it, this is so you can be tracked across multiple sites on the same computer, not across the same site on multiple computers. If this is a concern, I believe Safari and (soon) Firefox block this type of cookie.
We also have explicitly stated that adult adverts are a no-no, so any references to 'continental' content should not be an issue...or I'm in more trouble than you.

I dont mind ads like that but what I do find very intimidating is the amount of devious scripts which are hidden in sites these days. Google analytics in particular because it's included in nearly every website and I don't trust google one bit.
We've had google analytics from the get go. From what I can tell, it's fairly inoucous...they have different scripts for the tracking stuff.
We also have explicitly stated that adult adverts are a no-no,

Admin 1 - I'd just like to say you have done a great job on this site and though the ads do take away some of the look and feel for the site, you've managed it in a way that doesn't feel like the ads are in the way.
Now, if you get FIFA, PES and FM games ads on the site, they'd get you a few clicks.
