Giving him a lot of money for not being first choice. Its not that he hasn't lived up to transfer fee. Its the refusal to go elsewhere to continue his career.
Has anyone bid for him?
If we have to pay him out of his contract we might as well keep him until it expires
Arsenal have probably told him to find another club and when that happens Arsenal can negotiate part payment of his wages for a loan. The problem is that he does not want to go. Its like with Ozil and Giroud in the past. Players want everything to be aligned before they agree to go. I am not singling out Mustafi. But its generally true for most as we have seen. Mkhi I feel was the exception. Wenger nearly sold Mustafi to Inter and he has been linked to moves to Milan and Gala in the recent past.
I think he'd happily go back to Italy. He's tried hard to turn it around here but it's just not happening, the more mistakes he makes the more it will be in the back of his mind every match he makes.
Moving will be the only real way to get rid of that doubt.
I think one thing that was ignored in all the red card hoopla was Leno's angle when he ran out. He didn't defend that at all well. Worse than Luiz. He should have shepherded Tammy wide instead almost took him out. Martinez looks so impressive. I just wonder when Arteta will make the change.
