Emery was fired after a season. Arteta to go a season later after winning a trophy. Does that look good for the directors?
What is the simple answer? Players look like strangers on the pitch. What is the cause of that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dude, we've been making shiiiity decisions for over a decade now. That is the problem.
Yes, Arteta may or may not be an issue, but bringing in another manager isn't going to solve the problems we keep on causing ourselves.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
m8. The big change is coming in the summer. We are going to get rid of c £900k/ Wk of wages. I for one, would want to be sure of the person I am handing the cheque books to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbf Arteta currently has a better hit to miss transfer ratio than any Arsenal manager since about 2010.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
2 tests of whoever is in charge:
1) Can he coach. We cannot continue to spend huge amounts of cash on players without Champions League football. We have been 4th highest net spenders in the last 5 years without CL football.
2) Can he manage difficult personalities. Especially youngsters.
Can you confidently say Arteta can do that as we get dragged into relegation mire?
Aubameyang extended, so did Ozil.
Yeah, we might have to review that one in May though

Emi left, AMN nearly. and we suspended negotiations with Balogun.
'We cannot continue to spend huge amounts of cash on players without Champions League football.'
Tbh I'm formulating an article that asks that question - just too busy atm to get it written.
Kinda based on a point Tim Stillman raised last week. Actually, was more a question he forwarded on from the Second Captains podcast.

Yeah, again I'm not saying it's been perfect, but just imagine the feeling round the place if Saka was now at Dortmund instead of Arsenal.
Emi seemed a mistake at the time, and that seems more and more to be true. There were mitigating circumstances there though.
Balogun we'll have to wait and see. Still think that is more on the club than Arteta though. He's been manager for a few months, and the lad's current contract ends next summer.
Harsh to put that on Arteta.

So its Edu when they don't sign and Arteta when they do?
Emi left having a go at arteta for keeping Leno over him. I am convinced AMN would be playing for Wolves now if Southgate hadn't called him up.
I don't disagree with either of those last two things.
Your first point though, how many players sign up because they're 'excited to work with' a DoF (or whatever the fack we're calling Edu now)?
Oh and btw, seeing the pattern that has emerged with our recent transfers, I don't think Arteta is totally blameless with the bad decisions there, nor that Gabriel and Partey were solely his choices either.
But I do think it should've been Edu, and Raul before him warning him off Willian, re-signing Luiz, Cedric etc.
But we all know why we're now lumbered with them.
