Like he had a choice! And as soon as Arteta did, he told him feck off even after he won him the FA Cup.

Of course he had a choice. He could have brought in a #2 like Wenger did about 8 times, or like Emery did with Leno.
Arteta didn't tell him to fack off, he told him he had a 95% chance of starting
Emi even stated Arteta wanted him to stay, but he wanted an unchallenged #1 spot.

So a player who has been loyal to Arsenal for years finally gets his chance, performs brilliantly and wins the club a trophy at a time when they are doing nothing in the league shouldn't want assurances about his future as a starter? If he is then told, 'almost', how would any player react? You know as I do, if Arteta had said you are my starter, Emi would have signed an extension. Selling Emi was a terrible misjudgement and there is no two ways about it. I even forgave Arteta for that if hadn't gone on to make so many more mistakes.

So players should be guaranteed to start no matter what? Don't worry about performance, players become undroppable.

Emi didn't say that. He wanted assurances that he was first choice.
