Doesn't this indicate a lack of strength of character from Emery that meant it was never likely to work at Arsenal (or any other top European club).

Yea there’s a difference, Artitler has more of a day in transfers than Emery. We spent £100m in Emery’s 2nd season on Pepe who he didn’t want and Saliba who went on loan.

Arteta's was made manager a season after being appointed as head coach.

Would have wanted Emery to succeed at Arsenal. International experienced manager but his main problem was his communication. The EL final was the final nail in the coffin. Unfortunately. I liked him.

Yeah bats, I'm with CEG on this. We spent a lot and brought in a lot of players under Emery.

And although he was doing well at the start of his tenure, the collapse from end of April 2019 all the way through to the debacle of the EL final which carried on into the next season (even after having had what most people at the time thought was a positive window) meant he needed to go.

Emery can't have any complaints really.

Exactly. I don't think we can compare Raul and Edu. One of them will bend over much easier than the other.
I mean, even Mourinho had to go along with what Levy wanted/could do.

Emery only said he didn't want Pepe after he was fired and we don't know how much decisions on signings now are made by Arteta or Edu

Exactly.

Emery was just a victim of a change of structure at the club, rather than someone that wasn't backed with transfers.

As I've said here plenty of times - and I find it remarkable people aren't questioning it more - last summer it was 'Emi or AMN if you want to sign Partey or Aouar', whilst this summer we can spend over £100m with only one significant player sale having been done.

Another shift in policy, or just KSE taking advantage of an ultra low interest rate loan deal?
