I'm just gutted that they've decided to spend money with a proper deadwood manager in charge.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually commend Arteta for having the balls to accept going young. He must have known his neck is on the block but he still accepted it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think the fa cup win has given him too much credit with the owners.
I still have no idea what his pattern of play is. The football is so dull with one play.
Get the ball to Tierney to then cross the ball into the box to strikers who are useless in the air
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I havent watched that yesterday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It definitely was there yesterday and will be more evident when we play better teams.
Bellerin got a lot of stick for not overlapping. However, our right backs are instructed to stay back.
It wouldn't be too bad if we're attacking from both sides but it's a deliberate ploy by Arteta which is to allow the Lb to advance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes and opposition are wise to it so attack that space behind Tierney, which is why you should have been giving AMN more credit yesterday. Xhaka pretty much cost us the game against Brentford for not breaking up those counter attacks. Chelsea and Man City used that flank constantly as well, which is why Tierney/Xhaka were rated the worst LB/LCM in the league for the first 3 games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AMN is just too lazy for me to play in MF. Even fat Sam pretty much made it obvious that his best place in the team is at full back
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was Gilberto before your time? Sometimes its easy to confuse a languid style with effectiveness. I think it was obvious that AMN was told to stay back watch that flank. AMN is actually far better passing forward and spotting attacks developing against us when he is further forward. I would actually use him to press. But at the moment Arteta thinks an overload on the left is the best way to play so he has to stay back to defend. Its something Sambi and Partey can't actually do. Which is why Arteta keeps on going back to Xhaka and was so desperate for him to stay. Without ever taking into account whether Xhaka does that well or even likes doing that.

Agree that is AMN main strength and he should use him there more often. FA cup game he had the freedom to do that effectively.
Arteta recognised that we rely heavily on Tierney's activity and brought in Tomiyasu as Bellern and his replacements were more a hindrance.
Bellerin, Chambers and Cedric all had freedom to attack.
However, Bellerin didn't have the fitness and lost pace, Chambers is not a natural full back, and Cedric doesn't have the stamina or pace.
Tierney is just a far better attacking full back than the right backs. Hopefully Tomi can redress the balance from the right.
Again DJ
It's not that Arteta hasnt worked that out himself.
Actually thought Tomiyasu attacked fairly well and often. A better sync with Pepe on the right helped as well. A far cry from the usual dependence on LB Tierney.
Was against Norwich though, so we'll see it this is a one off or a notable shift of tactics from Arteta.

If we see our right backs getting forward on a consistent basis then fair enough but I have seen nothing from Chambers, Cedric, Bellerin on the right to suggest they are being targeted by Arteta to get forward bar one or two games
We certainly looked a better balanced team with Tomi doing his job properly and we didnt give Norwich the impression to attack from Tierney's side.
Yes, it was Norwich and I can't forsee what will hapen in other games but certainly Arteta tried to rectify our main weakness in the transfer window.

One game is too low a sample set to get an idea of what Arteta now wants. Perhaps Tomiyasu was bombing forwards as a natural instinct, rather than anything Arteta said. Who knows? We will see vs Burnley and Spurs whether or not Arteta has correctly rectified that issue.
I think that despite the low scoreline, there are positives in our performances. Norwich played well but we deserved at least a goal, and should have got more.
I just think this team is going to struggle as it did last season to score goals, especially against better teams.
I don't agree with isolating Laca if that is what Arteta is going to do to him this season.
Watching world class players like Salah and mane make me envious. All the top 4 have 1 or 2 game changers in their line up whereas we have arguably the weakest arsenal squad for many years
The gap between us and them has widened like never
We lack confidence most, Castor.
You see our goal yesterday. We made a meal of it to finally put that into the net.
It all will come back with wins and less pressure. Norwich was a high pressure game yesterday. Even a draw wouldnt have been good enough.
Win the next two games will do a miracle on us.
Allthough I agree with you Castor I would also use Laca a bit more and Auba a bit less.
You'd like to use a 12 goal a season striker more, and a 20+ goal a season striker that won us an FA cup less? π€
I dont live in the past. Auba struggles for so long now. Laca looked more dangerous and offers us more in the box. That is what I see at the moment.
And no, I don't hate Auba.

Nah, you're not happy that he scored, GT. You despise Aubameyang and you've always hated him. Everytime he scores you feel shiete because it ruins this odd narrative you have.
Seriously you should stop this pretence that you like Aubameyang because it's plainly obvious to everyone that you don't.
Stop wumming me for the sake of it.
Listen, I hate Xhaka. I facking despise him. If I ever met him and I could get away with it, I'd headbutt the useless shietefaced caant and break his smug facking nose.
