Arteta on Martinelli:

I think the level that he’s playing at, the way he’s been every game, the way he’s been evolving. It’s a real shame because he’s gonna miss the game now because we need him and because we are really, really short.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But we're not really short in that position. ESR can play and then there's Pepe and even Tavares has done a good job there.

We're very short up front, but not on wide positions.

I mean, we don't even have any injuries in those positions do we? It's just our squad

Agree thats probably the one position where we are really well covered.

Class quote from Arteta when asked about Michael Oliver sending off Martinelli: “you have to be very very willing to do that”

He didn't actually make a huge fuss. Watch the interview instead of reading he quotes. I admire his restraint.

Arteta says he wants talks with the PGMOL:

"We need explanations with things that happened with VAR and I need an explanation about what happened today. It is the first time I have seen a red like this in 18 years. You have to be pretty willing to give a red in that situation."

Yeh, that got me annoyed. Was a good dig at the refs but a sly one. Should have ranted it out.

Wenger got fined and banned for questioning Mike Dean.

Good. Take the fine and ban but show up these refs. It's happening far too often and far too blatent now.

It won't show the refs up. The media will just take the piiisss out arsenal for a bit and everyone will forget it.

Great result today, a very difficult game with again some seriously questionable refereeing!

I don't think it's the wrong decision/decisions necessarily just only seems to apply to us most of the time while other sides get leniency in those situations

I've said before, we tend to get judged by the strictest letter of the law by these refs. It's almost like they find it funny.

Gabriel, dissent and a collision on halfway. 50/50 ad to whether refs give a yellow in that situation, but sways heavily to not if the player is on a yellow.
Xhaka, dogso when the ball was never under control by Jota and Ramsdale and White were favourites to get it.
Parteys first yellow against Liverpool was an absolute joke.
Then this tonight.

Compared to Evans rugby tackle, McArthurs booting Saka, Godfrey stamping on Tomis face, Gordon going studs up and late in Nuno, Gelhardt in the Leeds game etc etc... makes you wonder if there is a Riley led agenda against us.... πŸ€”

We had it in our last league game at the Emirates. Burnley player should've got at least a 2nd yellow for elbowing Tierney I think it was in the face.

We do have the some that go our way, sorry I'm terrible at remembering specifics but there was serious red card foul from Xhaka that he got away with around October maybe (there are plenty of others but I can't remember exactly).

Percentage wise though we do seem to genuinely get shafted. Man City for me are the worst in recent years for getting the 50/50s in their favour, for City it's 90/10s!

Under Wenger we were treated appallingly by refs, far far worse than anything you see now. If you watch a replay of games from the 2004-onward Wenger years you'll be appalled

We get away with it when we're winning the game comfortably.

The last one I remember is our last game against Leeds. We were 4-0 up and he did a typical bonehead red card manoeuvre. I even said in the match thread it's typical he gets away with it when we've already got the game sewn up.

posted on 11/2/22

It's like how our opposition never get a red card in the first half or in a tight game, it's always in the last 10mins when we're winning

Man our fixtures are a mess. Why could we not reschedule the Wolves home game to midweek next week instead of the following week, and then reschedule another match to take place on the 24th.

Going to be annoying having 3 games in hand on everyone else when those 3 games are against Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool
