Never mind. I just heard Arteta's explanation on why he subbed Jorginho and he admits it was to quote 'change the dynamic' so sorry it was a costly error by Arteta. It wasn't because of Partey's injury.

Jorginho just keeps the ball ticking over and is very good at recycling the ball. And I think he felt we were too impatient in the final third. So Jorginho would help keep us on the attack to build momentum and force Everton backwards.

But I don't think he counted on weakening our set pieces. I suppose had someone better in the air picked up one of Everton's main aerial threat we would have been OK.

Come on GT, Jorginho wasn't the reason we lost today. Front 4 had a poor game and Xhaka and Partey had a rare off day in midfield. Sheite happens.

This game today reminded me of our disasterclass against Newcastle away last season. No fight, no quality, sloppy passing, no creativity.

Thuram would have been a cheap alternative.

But I think Arteta wants to keep the smaller no.9 dynamic.

True to an extent. So if by that you mean someone to hold the ball up on the left to allow Martinelli to run off him I'd say go even more attacking with Trossard.
