Best Arsenal striker since Henry 👏
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Van persie was far better than adebayor, not even close
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shame the dosser was injured 90% if the time. Skill wise RVP was better, but Adebayor was more consistent

We are obviously interested in Sesko. There are also strong rumour about him and Arsenal in the german media. I really can`t judge on him. RB Leipzig is not a club I really follow. Noticed him a bit more when first rumours came out.

Would like to see that Arsenal would be more interested in Leverkusen`s striker from Belgium Boniface. Have to say that he had a serious injury and not really follow up his earlier performances since he came back.

Other Bundesliga players.....no thank you. Wirtz maybe but it`s a position we dont need a new player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t think Leverkusen would let him go this Summer.

He wasn't really. Adebayor had one great year, and even then 6 of his goals came against derby. He should've had at least 50 with all the chances Fabregas created for him.

Obvs I'm a neutral so won't have seen as many Arsenal games as you fellahs but did watch a whack of your games back then and as good as Adebayor could be at times imo he wasn't half the player/striker that RVP was, skills and goals aside his attitude was superb, HATED losing and would don't he sneaky, dirty little things if required

Both great but RVP was better, each to their own however

RVP played in some really good Wenger era teams yet spent most of it spaffing about on the wing and getting injured. His only good season was when Alex Song decided to turn his passing range into Prime Pirlo

RVPs best contribution was bullying Ramsey in training

posted on 5/6/24

Sanogo better than both so not sure what you are arguing about.

Of course he was a better footballer. But Adebayor had a far more consistent career at Arsenal and was more valuable overall

Yeah, I agree with Bats. RvP was way better than Adebayor for Arsenal. Gutted when RvP left, whereas was more bothered by Bendtner leaving than the other fella.

I never really rated Ade until his last 2 seasons and even then I don’t think we would have to the top 4 trophy in 2012 with Ade up front instead of RVP. RVP also scored a few goals on the way to the FA Cup final in 05, we never won any trophies with Ade.

Don’t like bogging up RVP, I’ve grown to dislike him a lot more over the years. The guy is a massive caaant

Anyone got stats for their Arsenal careers?

Be interested to know the figures and am pash at looking them up

Both had similar goals to game ratio. But ade had waaay worse squads to play with compared to RVP

I somehow tend to agree with Pete. So many injuries in RVP`s career. I was good for maybe his last year being at Arsenal. That`s it really. Then he was top class and scored important goals.

Yes he was a massive cuuuunt like Cesc.

Players like Cesc and RvP pretty much carried us through, what we probably didn't truly appreciate at the time, were some dark seasons. Or at least, gloomy ones.

Both went on to have success at other clubs they were unlikely to have achieved had they stayed at Arsenal. It saddens me, but I can't hold it against them.

RvPs 'guys' thing was pretty, what I believe the young folk call, cringe, though.

Cesc was world class for us. Unfortunately he turned into a massive twaaaat

posted on 5/6/24

I was more angry at the club than the players when they both left (and when we let Cesc go to Chelsea) but the way both have carried themselves in public, especially RVP, completely changed the way I look at both of them today. I can see Cesc trying to weasel his way back into being an Arsenal man instead of a Chelsea man but that’s only because of where both clubs are currently at right now.

posted on 5/6/24

Maybe it's my Arsenal bias, but I don't see Cesc as a Chelsea man. Barca, yeah. Arsenal?

RvP is weird though. Seem to recall him not being overly popular at Feyenoord before he joined us. So is he a Feyenoord man? Certainly don't consider him a United man. But is he a Gooner?

I'd like to think so, but don't know really.
