Let's hope Arteta gets us over the line.
It will be interesting to see the financial implications of his new deal. There were rumours Arsenal would be almost doubling his wage.

If it runs until 2027 is it not a 2 year extension?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arteta's contract was finishing end 2024. I assume it will now end 2027.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It wasn't finishing in 3 months FFS
I think it's a new 3 year contract that starts this season to run until the end of 26/27
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That was always the weird bit on his first contract. If you were to take it literally it will end 2027. So if its end of 26/27 season ie July 2027 as you suggest, a 3 year contract would start july 2024. So was he managing the last 2 months without a contract? I think Arsenal give 6 months extra to negotiate a new one and his present contract was ending 2024 ie till Jan 2025.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
😂😂😂😂
What is this mess?
His contract ran out June 30th 2025.
He has signed a new contract til June 30th 2027.
How was he managing without a contract?
What was the weird bit on his first contract?

Appointing a guy who had never managed a single game looked mad - the best ideas usually are.
Arteta is now a major figure in AFC history. New contract taking him up to 8 years. Amazing, really.
An article on a new longevity manager. #AFC
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arteta is probably underrated in world football I think (and happy thats the case). People have long forgotten the shiiiite he took over and the job he did with the squad - obviously been backed massively but as per Chelsea, Man U etc money far from guarantees success. Whoevers decision to appoint him & back him really was amazing.
My friends abroad seem to rate him, just the ones here I find don't like him. They say they would prefer Emery to Arteta
You can like him or not but no one can deny that Arteta transformed the Arsenal in the right direction. The atmosphere around Arsenal Football Club has changed dramatically and that is his biggest success so far.
If he can crown his work remains to be seen.

People who can't admit they were wrong about him. It got scary for him at times, but he's pulled through.
Needs to win a title soon though.

Hard to just say win the title when City can rack up incredible points totals, but I think we need a better showing in the CL and show the same consistency in the league last season without the silly losses.

If there is more information then fine. I was commenting on Crouches assertion on the length of extension. At that time there was limited information which just said the contract is until 2027. We will see whether there are any options and the size of compensation when the details are revealed.
Arteta was initially appointed as a head coach in Dec 2019. And then promoted to manager in 2020. But it was unclear at the time whether he actually got any improved terms in his contract as well. That is weird.

Exactly, he brought us back to who Arsenal should be, that has what has been lost with Man Utd
You wanted him sacked if he finished below Liverpool last year
Arteta is very lucky that he wasn't sacked after finishing 8th twice.
Don`t think that Arteta was in any danger at that time. The board knew we need to sort out certain things and they let him.

Aye. Thought he was dead after not winning a game for a month. Could barely register 2 shots on target per game.
ESR saved his bacon
Saka going to captain the team on Sunday?
Arteta was safe as houses. It was a project with Josh and Edu and only relegation would have stopped that.
Saka should be captain.
Dunno. If Jorginho/Zinny start, then one of them.
Has Saka been named captain?
Maybe he will give it to Partey to truly boil the piiiiss of the home crowd.
