Let it go now. Three points in the bag under the circumstancies we had to play it`s massive.

Jorghinho not starting games recently is not an excuse. He is an experience player and even not having playing time he should do better than today.
=======

I don't think it is an excuse. If you haven't played for a while, you're naturally going to take a bit longer to get used to the rhythm of the game. He was also coming into a side with a 31-year old Partey, who looks to be on the decline, and Trossard in midfield, which is not his usual position. We didn't have much athleticism or running power in the middle of the park. Playing away against our local rivals. And although he wasn't great, he still held his own. He's 33 years old and our 3rd choice DM. I was surprised he even lasted the full match.

Partey is a first team regular, yet I haven't been impressed with any of his performances overall so far this season.

Partey did ok. His passing is a bit casual but what gets me is his lack of effort these days. Play for a contract ffs. Or maybe he already wants to go to Saudi so he is not going to over exert.

I remember Partey chasing down Richarlison and catching him at this fixture in the past, he's not really putting that much effort in at the moment

I do wonder if he's been advised to kinda hold that space and try and dictate the play and let others around him do the running so he doesn't break his legs again.

Couldn't have been the plan partnering Jorginho. We played 4-4-2 today so both had one half of the pitch.

Saka and Havertz turn up. They are both elite.

I have to say, havertz is quickly becoming one of my favourite players. I usually hate players who can't kick the ball properly, but he's so goddamn useful in other areas, he's always up for a battle and gives maximum effort

Neither really strayed from that area though

Thing with Havertz is that he’s such a good all round footballer. Gives you physical presence up top, is mobile, is quick, on the counter he has the ability to play through balls which many players of his position don’t know how to. His crossing is very good, is good in the air. His finishing is crap, but he’s not really a no 9

Jorginho did and was caught out a few times. I couldn't blame his effort though because it pushed us up the pitch and allowed us to press them higher. Got some free possession and kept it away form our goal.

Havertz is a typical German. Never give up mentality.

Martinelli is reminiscent of Walcott/Gervinho era, just pure pace with limited decision making and final ball quality

Gabriel Magalhães is Arsenal’s second highest scoring centre-back in Premier League history.

🇫🇷 Laurent Koscielny (22 goals)
🇧🇷 Gabriel Magalhães (15 goals)
🇧🇪 Thomas Vermaelen (13 goals)
🇫🇷 William Gallas (12 goals)

Didn't realise Kos had that many goals for us

A class footballer but unforrtunately drifting in a different direction and not to his advantage.

There was clearly something going on in that WC team that time.

Bit disrespectful to Theo. Got over 100 goals for us, plus about half as many assists. that damn ACL injury in 2014 held him back, really felt like he was becoming a top player

Other than Saka and Alexis, can’t recall any other winger who we’ve been able to rely on over long term
