Looks like Arteta is super protective of Ethan. Will wait for him to agree a contract and bring him on slowly. To be fair he hasn't needed him with Trossard stepping up albeit in a different formation.

Didn't work tbh. We needed more creativity, especially cause Jesus and Havertz are way too alike and Jorginho is so slow these days.

Jesus is just shiiiiit as is Sterling, that is why it didn't work. Horrendous call to put them both in the starting XI.

Sterling had some good moments. Jesus was piissss poor.

100%, proper hard, placed shot. Havertz is turning out to be so valuable

Sterling is fat. Hopefully he gets fit and then needs to be near Saka. Sterling is far more creative in those tight spaces than a wide man at this point in his career. Martinelli is coming back to his form when he scored 16 so who cares tbh. Just need him to defend a bit now and then and not Calafiori on an island like he used to Zinny.

We have had 30 corners in the last 2 games and scored from 1.

Whitw not being available has played a major part in that

Havertz and Saka always turn up. Rice hasn't had the best start to the season.

I get it though, we needed someone at RB. Merino isn't fit to start so we get stuck with Jorgi, then Cala isn't a DM.

So yeah 3 DMs is overkill against Southampton but with the injuries we have and the squad we've built that's all we realistically had today unless Nwaneri starts, which is obviously never gonna happen

Rice looks off the pace a little. Must be the lack of the rest in the summer or he’s playing a with an injury?

I dunno if playing Partey at RB was overthinking by Arteta. He kept on coming into the middle that allowed Southampton to triple Saka. Tomi was excellent when he came on and balanced everyone in defence.

I believe the Southampton goal came from Partey out of position after the ref didn't give the obvious free kick. Sterling never got that treatment from the refs at Chelsea or City. Welcome to Arsenal where you have to over come bias refs and the opposition.

Good win overall. Hope we can stop conceding silly goals at home though.

To be fair that was a very good finish for their goal.

Partey didnt put a foot wrong imo. Prefer him in a different role though

I think if you are ready to come on as sub you can start. Arteta could have taken off Tomi early if his fitness was in doubt.
