Independent regulator to ban nation states? Or the Premier League is fecked. I suppose they will appeal.
Quite an illogical ruling because the judges ruled stopping companies investing is against competition law but as a consequence of the ruling allows them to create a monopoly?

Different case. But they will try to argue if the rules are illegal why should they be charged for breaking them? Hopefully that won't hold water!

The Premier League welcomes the Tribunal’s findings, which endorsed the overall objectives, framework and decision-making of the APT system. The Tribunal upheld the need for the APT system as a whole and rejected the majority of Manchester City’s challenges. Moreover, the Tribunal found that the Rules are necessary in order for the League’s financial controls to be effective.
------------------------------
That's key for the 115 charges. Cause if the APT has been confirmed, the tribunal looking at the charges is not looking at the validity of the rules City broke (as in this case), it's just looking at whether they broke them.

It doesn't and it can't just waste all it's money on a legal arms race with City
The PL is worth under 20billion and that's about the same net worth of Sheikh Mansoor. The UAE royal family has a net worth of 1trillion

Do you think they want to destroy the Premier League and so their own club?
In fact, if City are found guilty on the 115 charges, the Premier League could conceivably throw City out of the Premier League altogether. I am sure the Sauds will be happy with that.

Nah. They will walk the Championship and be back a year later. It would be a tiny setback imo. I doubt it will be as strong as what they did to Rangers in Scotland and they are back albeit taking a bit longer.

Hardly worth fighting over then.

Of course, they will fight. No one likes being labelled a cheat. Look at Juventus. But I am sure they are astute enough to recognise that this is temporary, and I doubt they want to destroy their own brand for the longer term and whatever City is worth now.

Arsenal are probably looking to convert their outstanding loans to equity at this very moment. The only clubs in trouble with that will be Everton or clubs with multiple ownerships in dispute. Everton are going to be taken over to wipe out those loans anyway and Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal etc. ownerships are not fighting.

On the face of it doesn't seem like great news but certainly seems like there's animosity building between the two parties so more chance the PL really try and come down hard on City with the 115 charges
