He was ok. Slow in tackles and lost a few duels but calm and controlled on the ball - albeit one close call he almost lost in a dangerous position

He should have scored. Frankly I rather put my faith in Havertz in midfield with a proper striker than Merino in that role.

Ode Merino

I wanted Rice pushed higher up the pitch last season but he’s not really doing it for us this season and we are leaking a lot of goals atm…

I wouldn't care if Merino could add 10+ goals. But otherwise, what is he going to bring if he can't press either because of a lack of cover speed?

At least, it's pretty clear Havertz can do that now after settling. The issue for me is Jesus and Havertz are very similar and cannot play together.

I rather have a 20+ goal striker and go more attacking. with Havertz/Ode as no.8s. Keep Merino to play against teams we have to be more defensive against.
