The fact he has been one of our most important players shows why we are struggling. Sooner he’s out of the team, the better. This Merino guy surely can’t do any worse with Rice and Ode holding his hand.

It's funny cos with Partey some of the opinions people take on his performances are like they've watched completely different games. Some seem to be unable to appreciate the good stuff he does and others can't appreciate that's he's slowing down and somewhat limited.

I still think (as a footballer) he's not one of the bigger problems we have in the team and he wouldn't be very easy to replace.

He has come into form compared to his very low standards. He’s ok to use in cup games or to help see games out but there is no way we catch Liverpool with him as a regular starter. At least he has managed to keep himself fit though, nobody would have thought at the start of the season that he’d have played close to Rice and Ode’s minutes combined

Yeah I disagree, I think he can be targeted but all in all he's looked pretty good for me despite the rest of the MF being rubbish.

He’s not great on the ball. He gets caught in possession or makes sloppy passes all the time. Yes he has a decent passing range and can carry the ball but generally he’s a liability in possession.

Yeah I imagine the plan was to be able to rotate between Rice, Merino and Partey in those two positions.
